The Marine Corp is a relatively small service and that particular Marine Col is known to almost all senior officers. If he ever expects to make General..or avoid being assigned as Senior Liaison Officer Thule Greenland..he will have to stay silent, but his name should easily be identified. It probably was on the old website of AFRICOM.
I heard a funny story on that, a 1st LT of the Marine Corp was assigned to Greenland in 80’s and was not to be relieved without the “Express Written Permission of the Commandant”.
Apparently, he complained to the wrong person about his transfer orders.
