House Leaders to Educate Voters About Immigration: 'Become America'

House Majority Leader Eric Cantos (R-VA) will lead a tour of House leaders next week aimed at educating Americans, and each other, about the history and importance of immigration to the United States. The tour, dubbed the "Become America" tour, will feature events and speeches aimed at overcoming opposition to the passage of comprehensive immigration reform, which has stumbled amidst opposition from conservatives.

The trip is being coordinated by the non-profit Faith & Politics Institute, and will include members of both parties, such as Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), a persistent advocate of amnesty for illegal immigrants. In April, Guiterrez told a wealthy audience in Chicago that they owed it to the people who "wash the dishes" and "take care of your kids and mow your lawn" to support a path to U.S. citizenship for illegal aliens.

Good grief. What has become of the Party I supported and voted for my entire adult life? It’s become such a grotesque joke. Every day a new example of this. It’s like waking up every morning and being spit upon. This just offends me to the very core. Looks like a "bait and switch" dog and pony show! Most educated people already know a little bit about the history and importance of immigration to the United States. Just about the entire country arrived here from elsewhere.

How these tour people plan to make the switch from "immigration" to "illegal immigration" after making everyone feel warm and fuzzy about the importance of immigrants to the USA, I do not know.

Maybe they are getting their smooth talk lessons from Sen. Schumer.

Promising again to close the borders later will not work except for Democrats and low information voters. But then these folks have already taken over this country.

As a bona fide IMMIGRANT I’ll tell the voters about IMMIGRATION..

1. We have IMMIGRATION when a foreign born person obeys the laws of America and does it the right way..asking permission to enter our country to stay and make America their permanent home..applying through the correct channels tothe US government and supplying all required documents and waiting until he or she is told they may enter..

2. We have ANTI-IMMIGRATION when a foreign person disobeys American laws and criminally enters the country without permission from our government and stays, or after entering with permission for a temporary stay does not leave again by the date they should but remains in our country now breaking the immigration laws..

1. ILLEGAL ALIENS are not IMMIGRANTS

2. Their children are not entiled to stay in our country.

3. Their children upon becoming adults at age 18, are now responsibilty and also guilty of living in our country illegally.

4. AMNESTY is ANTI-IMMIGRATION

5. AMNESTY is UNFAIR to IMMIGRANTS

6. Nana is PRO-IMMIGRATION

7. ILLEGAL ALIENS and their enablers are ANTI-IMMIGRATION

I agree with your characterization. This is insulting both to the original settlers & the heirs of millions of immigrants who came later, who desired to join & support the culture of the settler driven America.

The reality is very different from what it was in the 17th, 18th, 19th & even early 20th Century America. We are vastly more crowded, with still limited resources.

As for the jobs Americans do not want nonsense; that assumes that it is better to have millions happily on Welfare, SSI or whatever, at the expense of the rest of us, while the jobs that those on the dole could be handling are given to foreigners with no interest whatsoever in preserving that settler driven culture of America. It is so obviously a stupid argument, that we should educate our would be "educators" from Congress to peddle their folly somewhere else.

Here’s a better idea. Require that to immigrate to the US or get benefits in any way, you must speak English fluently.

Lots of countries have similar requirements.

Such a requirement would save local, state, and the federal government millions or even billions of dollars every year.

The so-called "wealthy" are being conned, just as most of those in the verbal professions. The one-worlder movement is indeed a major part of the cause for this push; and they employ arguments that seem to work for different segments of the population. With the great business conglomerates, the inducement is cheaper labor, broader markets for products, etc.. With the mass media types, it is based more on the guilt complexes, compulsion for egalitarian myths, etc., pushed in almost every college, today.

The point is that the motivations for what is actually a total betrayal of the very concept of a people (nation) with a right to self-determination, are varied. The buttons are being manipulated by Leftist ideologues of varied stripes, who work together where they see common interest--here the common interest is deconstructing the America that they hate.

Nice to see that Cantor is teaming up with communists (Lee, for one) to push this garbage. There is no more "We the People", apparently, just "We the Government".

I honestly believe that GOP "moderates" are trying to drive conservatives out of the party - why else would they continually cave and join hands with Democrats on what is obviously bad legislation?
