“The only reason theyre allowed to do this is because we in the press enable them by calling them civil rights leaders. Why do we do that?”
Now that it’s been rightfully acknowledged and questioned — wish this would be a turning point for the media.
“...wish this would be a turning point for the media.”
Instead, every single cable news station is having a panel of black people and asking what they think. As long as they’re black, they are outraged at the verdict! The media...once again, adding fuel to the fire. And they all say the same thing...it’s a race issue.
Also, am I imagining it, or did these networks purposely have an unusual number of black anchormen/women and reporters on yesterday, today and for the past two weeks covering this case? They obviously didn’t watch the trial, and to them, TM was still a little kid who was profiled and innocent. I have not watched cable news for years, so this might be the norm now and I didn’t realize it.
Geraldo was the only one who “got it” and used common sense...for a change.
