On the one had, I don’t think the fact that what she did would not be considered illegal in Canada is in any way relevant. It’s not our place to tell other jurisdictions what their laws would be. On the other hand, a 30 year sentence for this? Seems a little excessive to me, and yes, I would say the same if the sexes of the parties were reversed (so long as it was consensual, which appears to be the case). Still, Canada has an extradition treaty with the US, and we should probably fulfill our obligations under that treaty, even if I think the sentence is a bit loony.
