I don’t understand. If the jury finds GZ not-guilty of 2nd degree then they are in essence saying the shooting was self-defense, yes? Then that covers any and all charges, doesn’t it ? I mean self-defense is the same regardless of what degree of homicide or manslaughter.

Would you answer the question in post 11? If it’s self-defense then it’s self-defense no matter the charge, isn’t it?

Bingo. I don’t bother explaining this much, but if the jury finds that the prosecution failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Z’s actions were NOT self-defense, Z walks on all charges. Period.
