Russian president Vladimir Putin has passed a draconian law that calls for the arrest of anyone who is openly gay or supportive of gay rights.

In a throwback to the country’s authoritarian ruling, Russian president Vladimir Putin has signed a controversial law that punishes people for “homosexual propaganda.” The law fines people—including tourists—up to 200,000 rubles ($6,240 CDN) for “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.”

Valerie Jarret could explain that to Putin, I'm sure. Besides, "homosexual" means something a bit different in the dear olde Rodina. In Russia, queer is defined as, "prefering the company of women to drinking vodka."

I think Russian obsession with vodka is greatly exaggerated. It is not such an issue today as it was just a decade ago.

Open homosexuality was illegal and punished by imprisonment in the Soviet Union and Maoist China. Fidel Castro tried to round up and quarantine homosexuals with the pretext of preventing the spread of HIV.
What's ironic about all this is that homosexual activists and their left wing allies shrieked to no end about "homophobia" in the US, but you'd never hear them say a word against much harsher anti-homosexual laws in Communist countries. They could have their "gay pride" rallies in the US - I'd like to see them try the same in Brezhnev's Russia, Mao's China, or Castro's Cuba. Yet the US was enemy number one, not Brezhnev, Mao, or Castro. "No enemies on the Left..." was and remains the rule.
Lenin and Trotsky also experimented with "progressive" education, the very sort that is being implemented in our school systems today. The net result of Communist education (no curriculum, grades based on "creativity and participation," rather than merit, no ranking or authority over children) was a generation of illiterates, just as we have.
Post-Lenin Soviet leaders realized that "progressive" education wouldn't produce the engineers and other technical experts they needed to fight the cold war, so they reintroduced a rigorous, competitive, and merit-based system of education (similar to what they had in Continental Europe before the "New Left" took it over).
It seems that the US is experimenting with Leftists models that even the Soviets recognized as abject failures and had the sense to discard.

It isn't extreme prudishness to recognize that oral sex, where virtually no one in the country wears protection, can spread syphilis, gonorrhea, genital herpes, genital warts, chlamydia, human papilloma virus and HIV, unless both partners have been only with one another since virginity, i.e. traditional marriage.
I wouldn't be too sure of that yet. Unless they have a constitution that places God and Natural Law above the state, as we used to have, all this could change with the political winds. To quote Ronald Reagan, "trust, but verify."

You reproduce when you live in a commie nation because the State has killed so many of your countrymen and women in its quest for power that they need to indoctrinate a fresh class of children to keep them in power; so they encourage or even mandate reproduction, as Ceausescu did in Romania.

Increasing acceptance of homosexual "marriage" is a good, contemporary example. Through a hi-tech version of the Alinsky "Diamond Tactic", with the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms providing multiple facets of the diamond, Americans look in every direction and wonder if they are being left behind by (what looks like) the rest of America. That is, they wonder if they are indeed "on the wrong side of history".
There's a reason kids today still use phrases like, "That's so gay," as a deragatory comment. Kids understand naturally - - instinctively - - that there is just something sick about a man pushing his penis into another man's anus full of sh**. It's one of those things nobody needs to teach, and it is why homosexuals instinctively feel ashamed of what they are and what they do, and why they suffer the tears of a clown even as they march with fake smiles in fake "pride" parades.
It's like the communist Democrats thinking they can create what Austrian economists called "the socialist man". It cannot be done because it is simply antithetical to human nature. It's the same with homosexuality - - it will always give normal people the creeps, just as it has for thousands of years, and there's nothing the liberals can do about it.
The KGB and its ancillaries successfully infiltrated and directed America's State Department and, more importantly, its "mainstream" newsrooms. The process took literally 70+ years, but the fruits of those efforts are evident. America has now elected and re-elected an African communist as its leader, and cultural decline aimed at destroying the traditional family unit looks like an unstoppable freight train. Depravity, perversion, and selfishness is slapping us in the back of the head no matter what direction we turn. Russia is not about to let its own tactics destroy it, too. The people at the top over there must be laughing their asses off in astonishment that the plan of their predecessors worked. It really worked.

Neither does knowledge of, and respect for, the U.S. Constitution. Is that a reason to promote their total destruction rather than their renewed application, now that we've seen the downside of trashing them?
