It’s not about money. It’s about priorities. Young families get themselves up to their chins in consumer debt and then calculate that there’s no room for a baby in their financial situation. They have chosen the house, the cars and the toys.
There are families having children. They adjust their budgets and their priorities.

The real problem is that Americans are drifting away from Catholic morality. Catholic morality (also known as the morality passed to us by God) properly teaches that the use of contraception is immoral. Many Freepers need to learn this truth.

It depends on what's being analyzed and from what point-of-view, or economic interest. Looking at birthrates and total live births side-by-side doesn't look so dire. In fact, as many kids are being born now as during most years of the baby boom. More than one way to look at this:
