Immigration: GOP steps away from any path to citizenship (Can we trust Boehner, Cantor, Ryan?)
WWNT ^ | Washington Times

House Republicans are meeting Wednesday to hash out their own strategy on immigration, but already one major difference has emerged between them and their Senate counterparts — they are far less enthusiastic about an eventual path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

Even many of the 32 Senate Republicans who voted against their immigration bill last month said they think a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants is necessary, and eventually likely. But in the House, that's far from a majority stance.

"I believe any talk about a pathway to citizenship will only make the problem worse because our borders are open and you're encouraging people to come here illegally," said Rep. Lou Barletta, a Pennsylvania Republican who pioneered immigration crackdowns as a mayor before winning election to Congress.

He said the chief goal for Republicans when they huddle Wednesday afternoon to talk strategy should be to establish that immigration enforcement must come before anything else.

For Democrats, the path to citizenship is non-negotiable as a part of the bill.

"Without a path to citizenship, there is not going to be a bill," Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, said as he emerged from a meeting with House Democrats.

Will Boehner, Cantor and Ryan sell out to the Democrats, Mexico and Karl Rove's Amnesty Pimps at the GOP Amnesty Conference today?

Call your REP this morning and tell them to tell Boehner: NO BILL AT ALL!

NO

Will Boehner, Cantor and Ryan sell out to the Democrats, Mexico and Karl Rove's Amnesty Pimps at the GOP Amnesty Conference today?

Yes, but it will be billed as a courageous & principled stand that secures the border (after everyone in Mexico that wants to come in, has come in).

What Schmucky is saying is that when Boehner gets him an ‘enforcement only’ bill, he will insert his Trojan amnesty into the conference bill and send it back to the House where Boehner and 17 RINOs along with all the dems will pass it.

We’re on to them now!

NO BILL AT ALL UNTIL REAL CONSERVATIVES CONTROL HOUSE, SENATE AND WHITE HOUSE!

Yesterday there was an interview I watched between Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin.

In the interview Palin speaks about Cruz and the new gang of right in the GOP.

She mentions she should be in the majority in the GOP. She however recognizes the GOP seems to have been taken over by something unprincipled.

Her point was this would never be approved, if the GOP were on the right path.

GOP: are you on the right path?

The House GOP are only getting their equipment ready. They have to get their head lamps mounted to their hard hats. They have to get their ropes all ready. Make sure they have their boot cleats and gloves. They have to get their pick axes sharpened and checked out.

They are getting ready to go spelunking!!!!

They’ll all be caving soon.

Any member that votes for any bill starts the process rolling to an eventual Obama signature on amnesty.

NO KIND OF IMMIGRATION BILL CAN BE PASSED BY THE HOUSE. NO KIND OF BILL. NO BILL ABOUT SECURITY OR ANYTHING THAT SOUNDS GOOD OR LOOKS GOOD. ANYONE THAT VOTES FOR IT IS VOTING TO MAKE AMNESTY POSSIBLE AT THE END OF THE PROCESS.

Ubama only enforces the parts of current immigration law that results in more Democrat voters, legal or illegal.

Why give him a new law to do the same thing with?

NO BILL is the only way to go.

Path to citizenship is only a synonym for path to the voting booth to vote for democrats.

Exactly. Without the right people to work it and pass it, any effort to change existing law is futile anyway.

And this false narrative that GOPers will suffer at the voting booth if they don't surrender on amnesty.. poll after poll after poll say otherwise.. Americans, while foggy in their thinking on a plethora of other issues, are quite clear on this matter. They want the border secured first.

If these people wanted to be citizens, they would learn to speak English.

Can’t be said often enough. The House GOP leadership strategy is to push through a bill that looks innocuous, but will be transformed into the Senate amnesty version through reconciliation.

It doesn’t matter what the House wants to put in ‘their’ immigration bill, there must be no immigration bill from the House at all!

This whole thing could easily be being driven by the destroyer working crom that place of shamebehind the scenes where he and his handlers planned for him to be at one time or another

Shame and scandal to them means working from a different position. Never is it about fepentance

He’ d sign it and spike a football, figuratively speaking and as incompetently as his 2 for 20 hoops mastety but he’d spike it

Whatever is being used to make the gop act as bafflingly strange as roberts on bo care the bet is its bo and co

What are you going to post if the House does the right thing? You’ve posted twice in last half hour, adding your own little headlines that really skew the story. Seems like you’re going out of your way to be miserable before we even know if we should be miserable.

Look, I realize the House - with Boner and Cantor - might end up doing the wrong thing. I get that. Hell, I wrote a whole book about the GOPe! But even limp boner seems to be moving in right direction on this in last few weeks. Just seems to me you would rather have a reason to trash the House than you would for them to actually do the right thing.
