Really bad choice in my opinion-countries like Venezuela don’t grant political asylum-they take political hostages. He may well be sold to the highest bidder...

Venezuela of course is a morally crappy decision. Tactically, it may be the best for him considering his limited options and that the US special forces are probably on a "Snatch and Grab" standing order for this guy. Therein lies the tension and conflict.

Also keep in mind, Snowden can sit around in Caracas for a few weeks sipping tropical drinks, and then under the surface rig a deal with another Latin American country a little less authoritarian (communist) than Venezuela, and then get there, without ever passing over US or extraditable airspace. I am sure the Venezuelans could issue him travel documents or a passport. This might just be a stop on the way to his real final destination, maybe even a fakeout, is what I am saying. If he is a true patriot and has not been "turned" to the Red (dark) Side, then he will learn to loath Comrade Maduro and that whole lot down there, very, very soon. We shall see. What a strange story with many strange twists and turns.
