After 77 years the wait is over for a Wimbledon champion as Andy Murray beats Novak Djokovic
The most painful wait in sport is over. Andy Murray won Wimbledon for himself first and Britain second, but there was no mistaking the relief that swept the country as a 77-year hoodoo was lifted on a joyous summer day.

Way to go, Andy!
Muffy, Lovey, Bitsy Buffy and Bunny must be thrilled....
but...
this is the most painful wait in all of sports.
Not even close. Hibernian Football Club who play in the Scootish Premier League have not won the Scottish Cup since 1902. Lost 11 finals since then including 5-1 to our biggest rivals two years ago. Been saying always next year since I saw them lose the 1979 final :(
Wrigley Field, seventh game of the World Series, score tied, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, 3 and 2 count, White Sox pitcher leans in to get the sign when suddenly, everybody looks up...
Look forward to Sloane Stephens holding a cup someday.

suffice it to say the here across the pond, the sport you call ‘Football’ is no way near being considered a popular spectator sport. Though what we call ‘Soccer’ is very popular as a sport played among school children.
A hundred years from now, it will be the Detroit Lions still waiting to win their first Super Bowl.
Andy Murray and Novak Djokevitch (sp.) are two very classy individuals, gifted tennis players and gritty competitors. Sports as a whole would be so much better off if more were like them. I was thrilled to see Andy finally break the “curse”.
with the late George Plimpton as Quarterback...and the late
Alex ‘Mad Duck’ Karras as a defensive tackle....
and... OH..the NFL (originally NFL/AFL)superbowls are only 47 years old, while the modern MLB world series are 110 years old....gotta give the Lions more of a chance.
So, it seems... the English are FINALLY truly ready to accept and love the Scotts?
In American Football they hardly ever put foot to ball should really find a more appropriate name for it. I have decided not to give any examples in case it upsets the colonials over the pond.
we like the name....gives us a sense of satisfaction to confuse the crown, as we saunter off in our coon skin caps...and totin’ our guns....lots of guns(no...not sarcasm...we actually do have lots of guns...but very few coon skin caps, that part is sarc.). ; )
A shortage of coons or cap makers?
Baseball caps are all the rage. Even football coaches wear em.
I cover my shiny pate with one with a bullet manufacturers logo. “ I'm the all American bullet-headed Dago-mother’s son? “
Obama will probably bend to the coin skin cap union and nationalize the industry, along with buggy whip concerns.
