New protections coming for disgruntled intelligence workers

The Obama administration is moving toward final implementation of new job protections for disgruntled intelligence employees who keep their complaints about wrongdoing within government channels.

Some advocates for whistleblowers have hailed the move, which comes as Edward Snowden — who has claimed to be a U.S. national security whistleblower — accelerates his search for foreign asylum from a Moscow airport waiting room.

By July 8, dozens of federal agencies are required to tell the White House in detail how they plan to implement an order the president signed last October that prohibits retaliation against those who flag “waste, fraud and abuse” in intelligence programs to approved officials.

More than 50 government agencies and departments will be subject to the new rules, including the CIA, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the departments of Defense, State, Energy, and Homeland Security. The precise number of workers covered by the president’s directive is classified, but a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said the number of intelligence community workers is around 100,000.

That's a lot of intelligence. I'm watching this right now. Very interesting ----> Counter Intelligence – Shining a Light on Black Operations

Lets get this straight. The fed gov has decided to go easy on disgruntled government workers that might have something to show and might potentially damage the government so they are “opening channels for discussion” so they might ome forward and out themselves. Sounds like an 0 whackamole tactic to me. Does he REALLY think guys in the intel industry who deal with liars, cheats, and thieves (former intel guy myself) on a daily basis are going to fall for that lie? Maybe the young and dumb ones but certainly not the experienced ones I would hope...

War is Peace.

Slavery is Freedom.

Not arresting you and throwing you in some federal lockup without legal representation on trumped up charges for not going public about government wrongdoing is Protection.

That was my thought as well. Nobody with any brains in their head would voice their complaint.

I’m reminded of a story I read about a German accountant who felt that he had been mistakenly assigned a job digging ditches. He thought “Surely the Fuhrer is a reasonable man. I’ll write him a letter and tell him of his mistake and the terrible working conditions.”.

I don’t recall what happened to him but the letter was a real bad idea.

So diplomatic immunity in another country could be the norm?

At its heart this is a scheme to keep lawbreaking concealed in-house. Reports will be made, files generated and stored in a “safe place.” Procedures may be twiddled with. End of event.

Oh, at some future moment the “whistle-blower” will be “repaid” for his conscientiousness.

This is akin to the “Justice Department” doing an “internal investigation.”
