#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor made a bold suggestion while closing out the Independent Speaker series at Glenn Becks Man in the Moon weekend on Saturday.
It may be time for the Tea Party to drop the title Tea Party, he says.
The author, who describes himself as a Tea Party guy through and through, explained that conservatives have much to learn from the tactics of the left. ACORN didnt have to change its work when it came under fire several years ago, he noted it just got a new name.
Im throwing this out there
Thor told the audience. Do we need to consider adopting another name so that we can reach out to young people
get beyond the stigma? We dont have to change our values. Do you think ACORN changed its values
?

Bill Whittle says definitely throw away the Revolutionary costumes.
Maybe a name change is a good idea. Maybe a new party is a good idea, too.
It doesn’t matter what’s done. The MSM will still vilify and destroy it even if it’s under another name.
I don’t know. I like seeing the fear in the eyes of the liberal pols and talking heads, at the mention of the TEA party.
How about calling it the Republican party and calling the current Republican party the RINO party?
Freedom movement. If the GOP continues to betray its base, we will probably have a third party perhaps called the Freedom party.
Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals #13: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)
Yup! I don’t think changing the name will make any difference. The communist sympathizers in the DNC’s state-controlled “media” will Alinsky any name that the TEA Party comes up with or refer to them as “formerly known as the TEA Party”.
Now THAT is a great idea.
‘Pick the target, freeze it ....’ We the People, however, will never go away. We have gotten into their brains.
I wear my “Tea Party” shirt to Whole Foods. It’s fun to watch the skinny little emaciated hippies eyes bug out!
Love to see a new party. The Republican Party as is are on the road to self destruction. The blatancy of their own people pushing issues that go entirely against their party’s platform. Does that not tell you the party is flirting with no convictional compass?
No matter, what name they change to, the media will not accept it. Go on for the fight and don’t worry about those who oppose you as long as you stand for traditional American polices with honor. Why do we have to be in fear or to be ashamed that we do not agree with the liberals and those in the media? Most of those people are either misinformed, haters and or liars. There’s no independency element in either party now.
Yes, I really like to listen to the opinion of folks who compare the Tea Party in any way to A.N.S.W.E.R. when telling me what would be best for the Conservative cause.
The Tea Party name is not the problem. The problem is folks trashing the effort from the Right side of the isle, like McCain...
Education resolves this issue. Get the real beliefs out. Don’t be bashful about them. Explain why they are better.
Sell Conservatism. It’s the best system around. It sure beats the heck out of stealing from one group of people to pay others to do nothing...
Be very careful what you wish for. I happen to share the wish, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself with a Tea Party and Karl Rove, Bill Krystol, Rince Priebus (sp?) and other old Liberal Republican knowns at the top again.
It’s like having a renewal of moral values, with Bill and Hillary Clinton defining what is now moralistic and what isn’t.
They'll sure try; but, having said that, what about "The Sharks" or "The Jets"?
I explained it. They decided it was “stupid”
I nominate: “The FREE Party”
It close to TEA, low info voters will join to see what they get, media can’t demonize it, and “TFP” will make a nice sound at rallies, or town halls.
Agreed. Its time to transform the Tea Party into a serious contender with a complete makeover, national organization, and an official platform.
But at the same time, keep the “Tea Party” in operation to act as a lightning rod for progressive hate. Let Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck lead the people dressed in Revolutionary War costumes around to distract the leftist media while the new party gets to work restoring America.
Once the new party is created, the first order of business is wooing conservative members of Congress to quit their old party to join the new.
