Did Personal Data Aid Obama Campaign?
Townhall ^ | 7/6/2013 | Carol Platt Liebau

The IRS has been credibly accused of targeting conservatives as a way to minimize their participation in the 2014 elections. But there is a mirror image to their suppression in the last cycle; the Obama campaign's utilization of Big Data to bring liberal partisans to the polls.

It was something that the press writing of admiringly both before and after the election, for example:

Time: How Obama's number-crunchers helped him win

Businessweek: Google's Eric Schmidt Invests in Obama's Big-Data Brains

Other outlets have confessed to some trepidation:

Gizmodo: How the Obama Campaign Uses Your Personal Information to Get Your Money and Your Vote

In the aftermath of the kerfuffle about metadata being used for national security purposes, it's worth asking whether (and what kind of) personal information somehow found its way into the hands of political people for the President's political benefit -- because there is significant benefit to any political campaign that can "mine" such data. Note that the companies involved in the NSA data-collection collection matter were huge Obama supporters.

In the event you haven't read it, please consider reading Inside the Cave, An In-Depth Look at the Digital, Technology, and Analytics Operations of Obama for America at http://engagedc.com/download/Inside%20the%20Cave.pdf and then follow it up with the book Victory Lab.

What's the point of being in office unless you use the machinery of government to benefit yourself or your friends personally, or to help yourself get re-elected?

At least that has been the attitude of recent Democrat Presidents.

O has used every agency under his control for political purposes and if you think he didn’t use the NSA datamining, I have a bridge......

Voter fraud sure did. I’d like the data on that. The stuff that proves he’s not president.

If anyone takes time to look at the numbers, Obama’s Get Out the Vote, despite all the hype , was a failure. He received 3.5 million fewer votes than in 2008. There was a decrement of 600k in NY, NJ, which I suppose could largely be attributed to Sandy. But this is a growing country, a higher “Voting Age Population.” This , by recent past records, should have expanded by 5-7 million, thus reducing the voting % to close to 50 from the 58% 0f 2008. The media on all fronts has been reluctant to mention this, let alone analyze it . Wikipedia’s article on voter turnout(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_turnout_in_the_United_States_presidential_elections) resorts to claiming a decline of 19 million in the VAP in order to maintain the illusion that the voter participation stayed in the high 50’s instead of the precipitate plunge that Obama’s poor performance and Romneycare rendered ( there would be bodies stacked in the streets if VAP had declined by that amount). Nate Silver gave away the game long ago; there are Obama precinct captains who are given quotas. They meet those quotas by community organizing, no matter how, no questions asked. If they drive people around from place to place, if they cast multiple ballots, if they show up with somebody else’s electric bill, if they vote the dead, “what does it matter,” it’s a vote. Obviously, they focused the effort on the swing states.

I’m glad this is getting airplay. This has been a “given” for me, but it’s been hard to spread around.

Look up Maxine Waters statements about how Obama had information about “everybody” and how this changes every election going forward.

The news focus has been NSA, but the IRS harassment is bigger news in terms of future elections.

I don’t think the GOPe will complain because they have done the same thing when they were in power, I’m thinking. It’s time to clean house. Don’t trust anyone who isn’t Tea Party. Get rid of all the RINOs.

The Democrats make their money by controlling government. They HAVE to win elections.

Do you have examples of this? They’d be very useful.

Meanwhile, in other "news"...

An airplane has crashed in San Francisco. Three people are dead and a number are in the hospital. This has eaten up all the broadcasting on all the cable "news" stations all day as the anchors breathlessly interview politicians and each other...

More people die daily in local auto accidents than died in this crash and yet it is wall to wall coverage all day? What's wrong with this picture?

Voter fraud is one of the fruits of the information database. You can do what you want when you can successfully blackmail anyone you choose.

They can retroactively prosecute anyone for anything.

The important part was giving all the LIV’s free cellphones.
Linked to a LIV’s foodstamp card, 0bama had a valuable data base of voters likes and dislikes.

Important data to attack Romney, make silly promises, place adverts on late night TV, do radio spots with “pimp with the limp” and get instant feedback

Remember, 0bama brought the 2010 census into the control of the White House, and away from Commerce. That right there is the database of databases. See tag.

Whats the use of installing a system of patronage if you can’t use it all to ingratiate yourself?

Of course this taxpayer paid-for technology is being used to keep thier power and rule over America.
