“That pretty much indicates life”? How about the moment of conception when sperm meets egg and BAM you have the beginning of a life. All the chromosomes are there, the blueprint of that baby is created then. Why are we getting into the “feeling of pain” or beating heart or brain activity time point? It is a life at conception.
If you really want to get down to what consitutes life, it’s any amino acid capable of crude self-replication. Admittedly, the DNA of a human is much more complex, but does a DNA molecule itself represent life? I think there is a line between life and chemistry, but I would never claim to know exactly where it begins or ends. And in that case I prefer to err on the side of caution.
