AUGUSTA, Maine Gov. Paul LePage has wielded his veto pen more than any other Maine governor in recent history and the session isn't over yet.
Throughout the contentious session, the Republican governor has spiked 57 bills the Democratic-led Legislature sent to his desk, recently surpassing former Independent Gov. James Longley, who previously held the record for single-session vetoes with 49 in 1977.
In a statement, LePage quoted former President Calvin Coolidge, who said, "It is better to block a bad law than sign a good one."

He is a tea party type and a true authentic conservative.
He vetoed the budget and that veto was over turned by both houses of the legislature.
He is running for re-election next year; if it is a three way race he has a chance to be re-elected.
check him out on YouTube, I can’t help but like the guy. He sure hits the lying dems hard and holds back no punches for rinos either.
love that Coolidge quote... words for Governors and Presidents to live by...
Maine basically has three kinds of voters, white trash, old moneyed (Thurston Howell III and the Yacht club set in Castine) and swamp Yankee. The first type vote for their welfare checks if they can find the car keys under all the trash in their meth strewn shanty, the second run for office as Democrats and the last group does all the damn work.
Governor Chris Christie is running for reelection. He signed fewer bills into law last year than any New Jersey governor in 168 years. Despite having vetoed gay marriage, vetoed an increase in the minimum wage, vetoed Obamacare exchanges, vetoed a ban on state pension investments in assault weapons manufacturers and being openly pro-life, he is, of course, an incorrigible RINO who would no doubt be happier as a Democrat and Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2016. [/end sarcasm]
Jus' sayin' ...
:)
Friend of the family worked with him at his business (Marden’s). Says that he’s the real deal.
God knows that Maine can use all the help it can get.
I like him, but you go the the Portland Press Hearld website and with all the comments you might think everyone hates him! lol
Invoking Coolige is great, but if LePage wants to be re-elected, he might emulate Cal’s most memorable trait: “silent”.
I am not sure silent Cal can be applied to silent Paul
I hope Elliot Cutler’s ego drives him to run, and lose, again. (R U a MMA grad?)
IMHO.......if libs hate him, he’s likely doing something right. ;-)
Expect flak when you’re on target......
