Less than a week after President Obama declared war on coal by announcing new regulations on existing coal power plants, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes heeded calls from Democrats in Washington to challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., next November.
The family business
I was an underdog, and Im no stranger to being an underdog, Grimes said at a news conference announcing her candidacy Monday. Make no mistake, members of the media, this due diligence was not reluctance, it was not hesitancy, Grimes said of her delayed entrance into the race, but rather a deliberate gathering of all the necessary facts to make a decision thats not to be taken lightly.
Grimes is the daughter of well-connected former state Democratic Party Chairman, Jerry Lundergan, who is a longtime ally of Bill and Hilary Clinton. Former-President Clinton has been trying to get Grimes to jump into the race since at least March. She is a relative newcomer to electoral politics, however, having won just one statewide race in 2011.
Obama who? Just minutes after announcing her candidacy, Grimes was already trying to put as much distance between herself and Democrats in Washington as possible. When asked whether or not she supported Obamas Affordable Care Act, she responded, Regardless of the vote that is issued in this race, we cannot change who our president is but we can change who we have in Washington representing Kentuckians.

Got the “dog” part right at least .... Progressive Dog.
So this slimebag wants Kentuckians to forget that now that Obama is openly and proudly waging war on coal?
Where is Mitch to ride in to save the day? Or, is he just a butt-kissing lackey for Obama?
” just a butt-kissing lackey for Obama?”
100% YES.
I fully subscribe to the school of thought that Obama wants to boost the speculative (at best) investments in wind and solar energy made by his cronies. No competition from coal, they would have clear sailing to get power rates up to where they need to be to make those industries feasible. They would still need subsidies, of course, but Obama has never really worried about the taxpayer when it comes to his policies.
These miners need to take their picks and axes to the White Hut.
1. State legislature establish a govt mining entity only employing in-state workers.
2. All extractions do not cross state lines and are burned in state owned power plants.
3. Provides super low cost power to every in-state citizen or state (only) govt or in-state (only) business, as well as all those jobs. No federal anything gets a single milliamp.
No Federal agencies can’t touch a state govt entity that does not cross any lines. Private, yes, state, no.
Rather funny that Obama’s union buddies are protesting the mine owners but not protesting Obama’s war on coal.
