“It’s good the Marine Corps is sticking to its standards, hopefully Obama and Jarrett won’t look for new commanders. “
You’re joking, right?
Yes,I should have qualified that, but fortunately you understood:) I’m not at all knocking the good men and women who joined to serve, my brother is a vet, my husband is a Vietnam vet, my father was a vet.
Now that, I have to say, is disgusting, and a slur on all the people who actually did pass.
I've got a great idea for Marine leadership: when the two years of study are nearly complete, announce a one-year extension for "further study".
They'd be merely following the precedent set by the year's delay on the employer mandates for Obamacare.
It has been many years; but, I do remember an Army test of strength and the results were that the most fit woman was not as fit as the least fit man. Men just have more muscle than women. That is not bias, it is physiology.
Yep.
They expressed a desire to get there and qualified.
They have to earn the rest and that is largely dependent on a mindset.
Sometimes, your body just doesn’t make it or it overpowers your mind and you quit. You quit a course, where everyday they are asking for recruits to join the ranks of others who have done so before.
You are even told “There is no shame in quitting!”.
If you allow your mind to say “Really? No shame? I am so freaking tired and hamstrings are killing me. Maybe I try this another time”.
Ring, Ring, Ring.
Some regret ringing that bell later, realizing they allowed their mind to be lulled into accepting someone else’s suggestion that “This one time will be okay..”
Still, others realize “This is more than I thought and I’m in fantastic shape. But, I’m not going to jeopardize another man’s life. I’ll find greatness elsewhere”.
Life’s tough. It’s always tough. In fact, it’s tough everyday.
It’s a great life if you don’t weaken....
what sort of comment is that you posted....are you sick or living in your mom’s basement....get real....if you are a male then get the your T tested, and if a female get your T tested....such nonsense
I think that was sarcasm.
“This fetishistic obsession to place women into combat roles makes me marvel as to how the USMC ever managed that 80 mile withdrawal from Hagaru-Ri at the Chosin Resovoir to the port of Hungnam without women infantry.”
Great point. That 80 mile withdrawal was during the depths of a bitterly cold winter. Had any significant part of 1st Marine Division been comprised of female soldiers, the entire unit would have been cut to pieces.
I doubt 101st Airborne could have held Bastonge under similar circumstances. How many women would have survived the Bataan Death March? Or the ensuing captivity? Speaking of which, what do you suppose would typically happen to women POW’s?
Even though the Soviets used women in some combat roles during the Great Patriotic War, they were limited to the occaisional sniper or SMERSH officer. The Red Army never had women in the regular line infantry or armor units.
True that. Just in the interest of ‘fairness’ ....
Think you might have misunderstood my post. I was agreeing with the guy I was replying to, and expanding his point. I didn’t put a /sarc tag on the “reality” part.
whose reality? YGTBSM
oh, I missed the /s tag.....
I DIDN’T PUT A SARC TAG ON IT - think about it
Great idea. After all, we certainly don't want the few warriors we have left to reproduce.
I guess...I heard the Marines were full on board with the celebration of open sodomites in the ranks, though. Kind of disturbing.
I would think that unit cohesiveness and diversity are polar opposites. If I had to choose which group I'd trust in battle it would be the cohesive unit hands down. Military operations do not lend themselves to democracy, debate, or individualism. Diversity is the antithesis of "The Big Green Machine" and will prove to be the enemy of discipline. Without discipline the military cannot function effectively.
After WWII the German Wehrmacht (means/power of resistance) was dissolved and in November of 1955 was superseded by the Bundeswehr (Federal Defense). One of the unusual founding principles of the Bundeswehr was that NCOs were to discuss orders with the troops and to hold a vote to determine if the troops thought the orders were legal and should be issued and obeyed. This proved to be too cumbersome to follow in practice and has been abandoned.

Those standards sound sexist, maybe even racist, definitely intolerant.
ALL citizens, including women; should be prepared to defend their nation WHEN NECESSARY say due to the sort of hideous attrition that the Soviets suffered in WWII. But you dont send the scrub team to engage the enemy FIRST.
If I had my druthers, I would restrict large percentages of women in the armed forces for instances of full scale mobilization. But todays PC world has set that ship adrift, not just out to sail.
When do you think the cultural marxists will formally institute the position of Gender/Sexual Orientation Commissar at every unit level? I fear it is being prepared right now.
Buy ‘em a beer for the ‘good try’ and toast their health.
