State Department officials spent $630,000 to get more Facebook "likes," prompting employees to complain to a government watchdog that the bureau was "buying fans" in social media, the agency´s inspector general says. The department´s Bureau of International Information Programs spent the money to increase its "likes" count between 2011 and March 2013. "Many in the bureau criticize the advertising campaigns as ´buying fans´ who may have once clicked on an ad or ´liked´ a photo but have no real interest in the topic and have never engaged further," the inspector general reported. The spending increased the bureau´s

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I hope that’s a rhetorical question.
Apparently, this is what Hillary Clinton considers a priority—instead of protecting overseas personnel from Jihadis.
That’s the way Hillary plans to win the election in ‘16....pay for the votes with taxpayers’ money.
How does it cost money for a like on FB!
Was this a ploy to raise the value of FB Stock!
Who hires these idiots?
No wonder it looks like the left swarms these sites at will.
They’ve got government paid operatives on the job.
LOL
On a small scale you can go to fiver.com and there are people who will get you 20,000 likes for $5. For the most part they are fake "followers". I don't know how exactly the program works but it's not something Twitter or Facebook like being done although I'm sure when it's a democrat they ignore it.
Barack Obama's millions of twitter followers are fake too.
It doesn't look good. A bit dishonest, if you ask me.
A little bit more about fiver.com. It's a website where people will do things for $5 (not sexual things of course).
For example a person will stand at Times Square and sing Happy Birthday to the name you give them for $5
Another person will tell you where codes in your website needs to be fixed for $5
Another very ugly female will send a prank video to a friend of yours telling them the news that she had their baby (all you need to do is send the friend's name and a name of a local bar where they supposedly met).
There's a man with no teeth and bushy eyebrows with tin foil in his hair who will send a prank video to your friend claiming to be the "secret admirer they never wanted".
Another will do your algebra, english or whatever homework for $5.
Another will do a positive review (video) of your product or business for $5.
And others will get you 20,000 twitter followers withing 24 hours for $5.
It's actually an interesting site with funny and talented people.
I guess I missed it, it said FB I have a radio show and likes are free as well as on the 4 other FB pages I have.
So in reality it is not FB?
Yes, Facebook likes (legitimate likes) are free. But you can get people (who have certain programs) to send you thousands of likes that are fake. The only reason a Facebook page owner would do this is just to make themself appear more popular than they really are.
Oh, what the heck . . it’s only our money! It’s not like the State Department earned it!
" A Facebook like never fed a hung'ry chile"
It doesn’t cost money to “Like” something, but it does cost money to place an ad encouraging people to “like” something.
YEs if you use the promote feature on FB.
