The United States says experts have removed the last batch of uranium from Vietnam that terrorists could have used in efforts to make a nuclear bomb.
U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz says the highly enriched uranium, from the Dalat Nuclear Research Institute, has gone to Russia where it will be turned into low-enriched reactor fuel.

It went to a nuclear power..., Russia.
Whew, what a relief. /s
How does this lump of vacuous brain cells know what Russia will do with it?
Exactly.
Ping.
Russia has literally a ton of HEU. They don’t need another 70-80 lbs for some nefarious purpose.
HEU is not really any good for any Nuclear Power. Any nuclear capable country wouldn’t use it for weapons anyway, as it is dirty (lots of fallout and contamination) and has a very low yield compared to Plutonium implosion types.
It will be tossed into the mix and in a few short months become LEU nuclear fuel pellets.
“...removed the last batch of uranium from Vietnam...”
Vietnam had a nuke program?
We were building them a nuclear power plant at Dalat. When the NVA began to roll south in 1975, we sent an EOD team over to destroy it. I happened to meet the OIC of the team before they departed the U.S.
Thanks; article doesn’t explain. I had no idea.
That’s one of the things that I really like about Freerepublic; there is almost always someone that has been there, done that, and is an expert.
Thanks but I’m no expert.... just happened to run into the team at Travis AFB while they were awaiting their flight. Before that, I had no idea that we were building a nuke plant there.
Thanks for your insight.
