It now looks like Obama’s insistence on supplying Egypt with advanced wepons was purely to prop up Morsi’s jihadist dictatorship.
To: circlecity
This could prove useful until the military says "I'll see your Obama card and raise you my Putin card."
Russia was Egypt's #1 ally until Anwar Sadat. What would stop them from going there again?

How long until McCain starts screaming for a “no fly zone” and starts bombing the military headquarters.

The Egyptian military will receive moral support from the US military which will be making the same demands of O when 10 million US citizens take to the streets demanding O’s resignation.

The presidency indicated that ... Morsi was safe as long as his administration still had US support. In terms of the wrong thing to say at a critical juncture in a country like Egypt this may top the list.

Well, if the military is waiting for Obama to denounce Morsi, they’re going to be waiting a long time.

Obama has a long history of backing the wrong side, toppling stable governments and supporting Islamists and other transnational terrorists. He won’t ditch Morsi unless the situation in Egypt is some sort of personal threat to Obama.

They need American approval. That’s the problem. With Mubarak, who was pro American, they had Obama’s approval to remove him.
Here is a golden opportunity to get the Muslim Brotherhood out of there and of course Obama will want none of that.

Well, if the military is waiting for Obama to denounce Morsi, theyre going to be waiting a long time. Notice that the quote says "America" not Obama - my headline edit is just for clever.
O is going to lose the left on this one.

If there is a coup, Egypt will suffer the fate of Algeria. If there is no coup, Mursi will purge the military of secular officers and Egypt will ultimately go the route of Iran. The region is not known for its ability to compromise and form a reasonable social consensus. Ultimately Egypt may become a vassal state of the Saudis. Mursi and the Islamists will never voluntarily cede power and any attempt to overthrow them will be bloody. Europe and the US should prepare for hordes of refugees.

Who has those tanks and jets, Morsi or the military? that is what I am wondering.
