Just heard on the news that this was the biggest loss of firefighters lives from a wildfire since 1933.

Could be; if I remember the Mann Gulch info correctly, it was maybe 17 of them. Horrible.

In terms of total departmental losses (not just wildfires) 9/11 in NYC would be tough to top (343).
