GM foods are owned by companies. Once they replace natural foods we will be totally at their mercy.

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

I was in a Cosco store recently, and there was one of those stands where they were handing out free samples. Naturally, I went over, and found that a saleswoman was featuring popcorn made with no GMOs. “What is a GMO?” I asked.
“Oh, they’re bad. They are genetically modified organisms.”

I protested that ALL the vegetables we grow are genetically modified from wild strains by selective breeding. All our dog breeds and farm animals are likewise also GMOs. She insisted that such things are bad.

I finally told her that I disagreed. As a matter of fact, I told her, I myself am a GMO, because I am not exactly like any of my ancestors. And if I had not been genetically modified during the last 30 MY or so, I would look very much like unto a chimpanzee.

She looked puzzled. I don’t think that she was as genetically modified as I am, and so she was unable to understand my argument.

But anyway, if you fall for this anti-GMO nonsense, you are in with real kooks. Maybe you also believe in alien abductions, or that the Earth was formed in 4004 BC, or that Obama’s fake birth certificate is actually real. Or that Obama’s father was that Kenyan bloke. Or that wasteful spending helps the economy.

In other words, this is craziness.

The established want to restrict the lower classes to buying from them. They regulate against new, small business starts (including agriculture) while clearing the way for their own favored constituents’ established businesses. That’s what much in politics is about.
