I am embarrassed that I stood outside in the cold, listening to Paul Ryan. I made phone calls from call centers for him and (gulp) Romney.

My Romney/Ryan shirt is now my painting shirt.

I didn’t leave the Republican party-it left me.

Here is my issue with the whole thing and why I’m conflicted. If we don’t do this then we are left with the current system. The current system allows illegals access to federal and state benefits, a border that is not at all protected and many other issues. On the other hand I believe that we should enforce current law, go after business’ that hire illegals, and close the border.

In light of the Supreme Court and their verdicts on gay marriage I feel like there is no better option, I realize that’s surrendering but I just don’t see any other hope.

What I fail to hear is enforcing the current Laws on the books. Hey, Paul, what’s MORE unenforced crap going to give us??

Wonder to what extent this reflects interest of the really big Republican money, which largely favors heavy immigration out of thirst for cheap labor. At any rate, I doubt he’d have ever had much of a chance at winning the nomination in 2016. He lacks charisma and there’s something vaguely creepy about him. Seems frivolous, I suppose, but a good number of voters base their decision heavily on charisma and personality.

I almost hate to say this, but, this is smelling like a single party rule
being set up to take over our political system. These jackboots
need to be stopped at all costs. Just damn!

It would seem that the mental defect found in all Democrats is actually resident in nearly all who enter politics. For some, it isn’t fully developed so the brains allow them to lean conservative for a short while. Then, it is possible that close proximity to others with the defect causes it to “bloom”.

Paul Ryan, the Republican congressman and former vice-presidential candidate best known for his war on spending, is emerging as his party's leading champion of immigration reform in the U.S. House of Representatives.

I typically don't consider Newsmax a reputable source of information, so I'm couching my words carefully here.

If this is true, and we'll find out very quickly if it is, then Paul Ryan ought to be primaried right out of the House of Representatives. No if's and's or but's about that.

IIRC, he and Romney lost his own district in the last election, so eliminating him via Primary Challenge shouldn't be that hard. I cannot imagine the people of Wisconsin (of either party btw..) being very happy with Ryan advocating for making millions of criminal illegal aliens - legal. Wisconsin has its own unemployment issues - pockets of that state are still in pretty bad shape - even in Ryan's own district, so I can't imagine this is going to sit very well with them.

We need help on our side from one of the conservative legal foundations/outlets. On our side we simply say, “it’s in there, just believe us that the immigration bill is amnesty and it does these nasty things that lead to unforeseen consequences”, but we don’t point to those in the bill. There is no thread on Freep which points to those. I am trying to convince people that the $5k penalty is in there, that it will do this and that, but no where does our side point to these things so we can copy and paste and send them to people we’re trying to convince. Does anyone know where we can find the “bad areas in the bill”?

1. Please don’t link me to the whole bill; most browser search engines won’t work; I’ve tried it, even in Adobe.
2. Don’t point me to other Freep threads where people assure me it is as bad as advertised; I already know that and the source for these sections of the bill are outside Freep and I am hoping to find them. The problem is the left, low info voters, simply believe the lying CBO even though they were off on 0blummercare by 300% or so and it is guilty until proven innocent on our side and opposite for the left.

Yet another one who sounded great on the campaign trail but proves himself to be another party hack when it comes to governing. That seems to be the rule today: campaign hard-right, govern left, especially when it comes to immigration.

Those "republicans" (John McCain, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan...etc) who are out there claiming that the GOP needs to vote for Amnesty to get on the good side of Latinos are implying that the GOP is bigoted against the Hispanic people. Shame on them for conceding such a fable to the democrats! Their speeches will be used in future democrat ads.

They are NOT on our side.

Let's not wait until 2014 or 2016 for 3rd party candidates...

We need a gang in both houses, a gang that includes Senator Cruz and whoever else is on our side in the Senate. This gang needs to draw a line in the sand and threaten to switch parties RIGHT NOW and become independent if this BS continues from the GOPe. I know the dems already control the Senate but let them control it even more without OUR participation and give them the House.

With enemies like the DNC who needs the GOPe?

Does Wisconsin have a recall mechanism.

What’s funny about this, is that as he tries to sell this debacle, I wonder how many of his constituents know what will happen to them? Correct me if I’m wrong, but how long will it take for the business owners up there in Wisconsin to realize that with all the cheap labor coming across the border and not having to worry about obamacare penalties, will they continue to employ the born and bred locals? Gonna be lots of folks out of work there and all over the place if he’s successful.

He really is quite arrogant, though. It’s like he thinks he’s better than anyone else because he ran with Romney. What a sellout.

a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, is an economic necessity and critical to fixing the nation's fiscal problems.

This is so literally CRAZY it's impossible to know where to begin.

It is not an economic necessity to make any immigrant, legal or illegal, a citizen. Ever.

It will not only not FIX the nation's fiscal problems, it will make them worse. A lot worse. For a long time.

How can a serious person repeat words like these?

I love that first line “war on spending”

He didn’t balance a budget for, what was it, 10+ years? Let alone it NEVER STOPPED the spending, but merely reduced it to ~2-3% annually. Some fiscal hawk there.

Now, he’s trying to tell us that lawbreakers should be given a clean slate, so we know who and how many there are.

I got a better approach, GUT the gravy train, grind the employers who violate the law and sweep up the crowd that will storm the streets when the bennies dry up. Hell, they may even self-deport.

Ryan, a potential 2016 presidential contender, sees himself as a "bridge builder" between immigration advocacy groups and reluctant Republicans...

Confidential to Mister Ryan.

You are NOT a "bridge builder".

You are a useful intermediary, so that the Dems can have their way, and have 20 million voters by 2014 (one suspects an executive order or a fellow-traveling judge will do it.)

Not only, Mister Ryan, are you NOT a prez contender, you will be hopefully be facing a primary contender that will return you to productive society.
