Prescriptions for ‘chemical cosh’ drugs to treat hyperactivity have risen almost nine-fold, with claims that children as young as three are taking them.

The number of drugs prescriptions to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has leapt from 92,100 in 1997 to 786,400 last year, say NHS figures.

It is feared that youngsters are being given them instead of more expensive counselling and other treatments.

Some parents are also believed to be pressurising GPs for drugs to help boost performance at school.

Oh, you mean like...spanking, standing in the corner?

Did they have a lot of attention deficit disorder back when children were "to be seen, not heard"?

I wonder whether there’s an inverse relationship between playing outside for hours after school and ADHD.

And when only a look or ‘the thought of’ would stop you in your tracks. Children have to be taught to obey - it doesn’t come naturally as we know from the terrible two’s. Back then they weren’t given whatever they wanted to keep them quiet.

That stuff turns kids into zombies. My son was on it a long time ago and i remember how apathetic and tired it made him. Could be thats the way 0 wants ‘em to be in the classrooms so they are in indoctrination mode.

My two boys have adhd. Youngest was most affected. The medication has been a God send.
My youngest brother had it as well, my patents beat him into submission to try to control him. A path I would never follow.

I’ve been a manager in the tech industry for 35 years now. There are a lot of ADD people in generation Y. There is a cause I’m certain, we just don’t know what it is. For better or worse, I screen for it now. They are very high activity workers, but they can’t achieve complex goals in business. Too easily distracted.

I agree, the are drugging kids to make them more acceptable to indoctrination. They will no longer question what is being taught. Independent thought cannot be allowed.

We chose to spank our kids, so no need for drugs.
