Hours after the Supreme Court ruling, the Pentagon announced that it would move to quickly extend all benefits given to opposite sex spouses to same-sex couples including medical, dental and housing allowances.
Defense officials also said that same sex spouses would have the same rights to be buried alongside war veterans buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
“The Department of Defense, will move very swiftly, expeditiously, on implementing the law, the decision of the Supreme Court,” said Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. “We think it’s the right decision, and we’re looking forward to taking that decision and implementing the required next steps.”
The Pentagon also said within six to 12 weeks same-sex spouses will be give official identification cards that will entitle them to equal access to military bases, child care programs, military commissaries, gyms and other facilities open to military families.
One issue that could take longer to resolve is overseas tours. In some countries, like Germany and Japan, military service members are allowed to bring spouses with them. Defense officials said they are going to have to review local laws and bilateral military protection agreements with all countries before allowing same-sex spouses to accompany service members.
A defense official said the intent is to ensure equal treatment of same-sex spouses, but the department must ensure that gay family members have the same protections when travelling overseas.
Officials said they couldn’t immediately say how much equalizing benefits will cost the department.

The Pentagon is overseen by civilian leadership such as Secretary of Defense & Secretary of {whatever branch of service. They are the ones who make the policies. Congress has complete authority to overide them though. Why punish the troops for wrongs Obama's people has done?

Several years ago, before I retired, we discussed this at a “Top Three Enlisted” meeting. The Chief commented that parents of young children might one day have a homosexual living next door in base housing.
As far as I can tell, this isn’t and has never been, about homosexual relationships, or homosexuals’ right to associate with whomever they wish in whatever fashion they want.
It’s all about the entitlements. They want to take advantage of laws that are meant to protect family inheritances, and use them to bypass estate taxes and so forth when they will their estate to their friends.
With changing the laws to make marriage a legal contract between any two people (or any group of people) instead of a legal mechanism to protect a biological function (the human pair-bonding that exists, biologically, to ensure that children are adequately cared for), the Supreme Court has opened a new avenue for all kinds of abuse. What’s to prevent room mates from “marrying” each other so as to get tax benefits, and then “divorcing” when they run into Mr. or Miss Right? Or, heck, they don’t even have to be room mates. People can just enter into business relationships without actually living together. We already have marriage fraud; the Supreme Court has just expanded its scope greatly. And they didn’t even make their decision on the merits of the case. Is there a mechanism for unseating Supreme Court judges who won’t do their constitutionally mandated job?
Rush said yesterday that he has faith that this will all sort itself out in the end. I wish I shared that faith. I’m afraid that the leftist rot that has invaded the country is going to kill the country.

To be fair to the 99% majority of troops none of them likely wanted Fags in the service. Soldiers do not set those policies. Civilians in the Pentagon and Congress set military policy. Hagel and company along with the Queers should be the ones shown the door.

Hagel is a blot on NE “Republicans”. It seems every state Republican party has a huge embarrassment out there and more than one or two at that.
There is, but the American people won't support the mechanism, which is impeachment, conviction, and removal from office with forfeit of pay and benefits.

One thing the LIBERAL JSC didn’t think through when they put their jobs over the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, and sodomized the US military. In the heat of battle, three or four in a foxhole, one of being openly queer, and they are being overran by 20 members of the Taliban. The sergeant waits to the last minute to tell them to shoot, wanting to kill as many as possible. All the sudden he gives the order “NOW, shoot the GD c***suckers”. Guess which one got killed first?

On front line defense? For 80 billion dollars of a sequestration, we lay fallow Our Front Line Defenses? Do you have any idea, of what these gay humpings, are to cost Our Country? What’s your deal?
I wasn’t sure if you were talking about God or obama.
I wouldn’t be surprised if obama says something about “being back home in Africa” or something like that. Just by going he’s sticking his finger in America’s eye. He’ll say something to get a finger in the other eye.
How ‘bout this scenario. A straight soldier is stationed in Texas. He has a straight friend who is very ill and has no insurance. The soldier and his friend fly to Vermont and get a marriage license. On Monday he walks into the personel office back in Texas and hands in his marriage license. The friend now gets government insurance and treatment at taxpayer’s expense.
This scenario could even be brothers marrying brothers or daughters marrying mothers or sons marrying fathers. Once again stupid politicians have refused to look one day down the road.

The liberal “War Against Islam” was never a “front line defense”; it was to force our NEW culture (pro-gay, anti-male, pro-abortion, socialist) on people who aren’t interested. In the meantime, my town is overrun with illegal aliens both parties have made it clear they won’t address (and they’re not just Hispanics - the 9/11 hijackers hung out here, overstaying their visas, while they plotted their attacks).
When our military secures our border, then they are worth funding. Otherwise, let Afghanistan and Iraq pay them. Do you have any idea what the costs of these maimed troops returning from our 0-2 disasters over there are going to cost us (for DECADES)? What’s YOUR deal?
