Uneasy feelings about the cross on Busch Stadium mound
St. Louis Post Disgrace ^ | 6/26/13 | Bill McClellan

Posted on 06/26/2013 6:16:44 AM PDT by schaef21

Perhaps you saw the mention in Sunday’s Sports section about the Christian iconography on the mound at Busch Stadium.

Apparently, somebody on the grounds crew etches a cross into the dirt....

Still, I look at photos of that cross etched on the mound and I get the same sort of uneasy feeling I get when I hear the phrase “homeland security.” It used to be “national security.” Why did “national” morph into “homeland”? It happened about the same time politicians started wearing American flag lapel pins.

Besides, I’m scared about terrorism. I’m convinced that fanatical, dedicated people with access to a lot of money want to do us great harm. If all this surveillance helps stop them, great....

But still, I feel uneasy about it. I can’t help but think of George Orwell.

Now there’s a cross etched on to the mound at Busch Stadium. Certainly, the players don’t seem bothered by it. Adam Wainwright told the Post-Dispatch’s Derrick Goold that the cross, and a looping figure said to represent Stan Musial’s number 6, had been there for all his starts.

The tribute to Musial seems harmless. Not so the cross. Does religion need to be that prominent in a baseball game?

I’m not pretending it’s a big deal. But still, I have an uneasy feeling about a cross etched on the mound.

Oh, what a sniveler. If you’re that scared, stay in the basement with aluminum foil over the windows until the neighbors notice from the smell that you’ve died.

The philosophy of the Left is based on hatred of Christianity. Everything they stand for is predicated on their hatred and fear of God.

When they flip out over a cross as a memorial to a dead man, you know we’ve entered a new phase of the darkness.

Does pimping socialized medicine, ObamaCare, need to be that prominent in a football or basketball game?

This depraved “journalist” is uneasy about the Cross? He should be comforted by it. Yes, Jesus is God and we need all the Heavenly help we can get in this pagan society. The “loop” is the sign of the fish, not Stan Musial, sheesh, is this dude really so clueless?

Christianity = good
wiccan=bad
Islam=bad

If it's not a big deal to you, why write about it! Stay away from Busch Stadium...problem solved...

Idiots abound in the media!

From the photo, it could be WORSE -- it looks more like the 'fish' which symbolizes christianity.

O the huge manatee!

I had a very uneasy feeling when I saw the cross for the first time. Now? I find myself overwhelmed with peace and the sense of being loved by God.

But that first time? Brutal.

Bloodsucking vampires feel the same way about the cross. Maybe this clown should knock off watching the “Twilight” movies for a while.

What does religion have to do with baseball?

For some people baseball (or football, or basketball, or hockey, or soccer, or golf, etc.) is their religion.

John 16:8 (NEB) “When he [the Holy Spirit] comes, he will convict the world, and show where right and wrong and judgment lie. He will convict them of wrong...”

Oswald Chambers: “Conviction of sin is one of the rarest things that ever strikes a man. It is the threshold of an understanding of God. Jesus Christ said that when the Holy Spirit came He would convict of sin, and when the Holy Spirit rouses the conscience and brings him into the presence of God, it is not his relationship with men that bothers him, but his relationship with God.”

We only fight those enemies we believe we can defeat.

Islam is the existential threat in the real world, and actually does the things he says he fears.

But, since 95% of liberals are dhimmi cowards who are uncomfortable with the real world, he defaults to the easy way, and pleases his liberal friends.

He probably sees professional sports as part of the state, so there should be no mention of God in any manner, way, shape, or form.

Why f***wad? Such writers give me a sickening feeling. And maybe if the writer were on the mound, in an extremely vulnerable position, with Buster Posey whacking a screaming liner back through the box, he'd appreciate it!

Does a cross belong on a pitcher's mound?

Seems to me you can get a glimpse of the nature of something by observing what its detractors claim about it.

Enjoy baseball while you can. obama doesn’t like things American, and he’ll be going after this sooner rather than later.
