BANGKOK, Thailand Their condition recalls dark tales from the 18th century: underfed men lorded over by seafaring captains who pay them nothing and maim the disobedient.
Yet these forced labor abuses play out on Thai-owned fishing trawlers each day. And the victims typically destitute men from Myanmar or Cambodia lured by coyotes full of false promises continue to wash ashore with accounts of torture and casual homicide.
For years, US officials have urged Thailand, one of Americas closest Asian allies, to rid its $7.3 billion fisheries export industry of these abuses. Though carried out on lawless seas, these crimes risk entangling supermarkets in America, where one in six pounds of seafood is imported from Thailand.
So far, these persistent abuses have hurt Thailands reputation but little else. That may change: if one more year passes without major strikes against Thai trafficking syndicates, the US State Department will be forced, by law, to hit Thailand with sanctions.
For four years running, a US State Department annual Trafficking in Persons report has labeled Thailand with its next-to-worst ranking. THAILAND?
if the Royal Thai Navy would simply follow up on some of the reports , identify the perps on certain boats , stop the boats and shoot the entire crews and let them drop into the drink , word would get around and the reprehensible practices would stop real quick . Most Thai are pussies and they will only try to do that which they have some assurance of getting away with what they think they can get away with . It’s endemic to Thai society ; place most morals high on the shelf and never tell the truth or admit to anything . This is why virtually all Thai police routinely torture their suspects . They will never tell the truth otherwise .
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

They knew their “revolution” was coming and prepared their people via TV.
I suspect it’s one of the reasons the new conservative president of the Republic of Cyprus has just decided to work with the Russians and Israeli on natgas. The Russians will use two of their ports. Obama is distained by many abroad because they know his game - though still not near enough.
