Everybody is focused on the centrality of immigration reform as a driver of Hispanic vote. And that’s an accurate perception to a significant degree. But over recent months we’ve seen more and more polling which shows that Hispanics aren’t voting for Democrats because of the immigration issue. They’re voting for Democrats because they turn out disproportionately to be Democrats.
That might sound like word play but here’s what I mean. On issue after issue, Hispanics appear to either overwhelmingly or more than the public at large support the Democratic position. Today we had a poll showing that Hispanics overwhelmingly support tighter gun control. This comes after numerous polls showing that Hispanics support ‘Obamacare’ much more than the population at large.
You’ll sometimes hear from Republicans that setting the immigration issue aside, Hispanics are this big population of social conservatives. Well, not really. People sometimes imagine that since Hispanics are overwhelmingly Catholic that they must be seriously at odds with Democrats on abortion. But even that’s not true. Though Hispanics are divided on abortion, like the rest of the population, data show they support abortion rights at a higher rate than the population at large.

And when they become Democrats, the make this country the same shit hole they tried to escape from. It is no mystery why much of south America is the way it is. It’s all in the culture and when that culture comes here we get the same result.
And what else do the Dems have to offer? More taxes? Only on the rich (please disregard the extra tobacco and liquor taxes and the fact that the poor drink and smoke in a much larger percentage than the "rich").
Oh, and tell me again what the "national treasury" is besides other people's money!
The article also makes the point that Hispanic Catholics overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
There used to be a bunch of us on FR that claimed this years ago. Many were banned, some just got frustrated and left and a few of us still come around.
Many times we were vilified by various factions here. It’s sad to ser our country put in gas chamber. I weep for my sons’ future.
Blacks are against gay marriage too but that didn’t stop them from voting against the pro-life candidate. Racism is a huge part of the ethnic vote but we can’t talk about THAT truth. Blacks and Hispanics traditionally vote ‘anti white male’ regardless of ideology.
Which, of course, makes them natural Republicans, right, Marco?
