The author seems surprised that a politician lied to get elected. Much like the frog who got stung by the scorpion.

That is why our original constitutional republic no longer works. It will only work for a moral, responsible, honest people. It only works if people seeking office honestly state their beliefs and principles and when elected act accordingly even if it means not being reelected. When people say anything they think will win election and then revert to their true nature in office it cannot work and will not work. So long as lying in a campaign is the most effective way to win election we are screwed. No politician who campaigns dishonestly will ever govern honestly. Of course the real blame goes not to the lying politicians but to the voters who have convinced them that lying and or vote fraud is the only way to win office.

Over 90 percent of the Republicans we have elected are business as usual politicians and have no conservative principles or any other kind of principles for that matter.

They say what they have to say and pass symbolic and meaningless legislation that gets shot down by a court like SB 1070 in AZ, 20 week limits on abortions and the list goes on.....
