They also have to be forgiven the original crime, Entering Without Inspection, 8 USC 1325.

A laundry list of crimes that would normally put a citizen in prison for years.

Something about Equal Protection Under the Law, Mr. Rubio?

Oh that's right. In your country, laws are negotiable.

And that’s just the official, on the books forgiveness.

For example, in many states, illegals driving without licenses or insurance face no legal problems unless they kill someone. The police can’t contact ICE; they have more serious criminals to deal with than the illegal driver who hasn’t (yet) committed a big offense. Besides, prosecuting citizens for the same crimes is more profitable—they have stable identities and addresses, and therefore money can be extracted from them.

Re-entry after deportation is a solid felony. It stinks that no one is ever prosecuted for it

Illegal entry is a misdemeanor which shows what a joke this country is. It should have jacked up to felony ages ago. Coming here on a visa and not leaving when your visa is up>>> also a misdemeanor.

Didn’t the Ninth Circus, within the past year or so, rule that a convicted kidnapper could not be deported automatically out of hand, upon the completion of his sentence?

McQueeg is a liar and cannot be trusted. But he said, "“Anyone who has committed crimes in this country is going to be deported,”
