When I went to school in the Springfield, MA area, you could hear cars blasting songs whit the N word all the time, along with blacks greeting each other with “what up my N****R” on a daily basis.
While I agree that it is wrong for the black community to complain about this term and then continuously use it, I do not condone it regardless of who says it. Excusing the behavior of Deen by pointing out the improper actions of others is wrong. I, two years ago, had to fire my best friend (of over 30 years) for making the same racist remark while in my employ. Zero tolerance means zero tolerance. The willingness of rappers and entertainers and members of the black community to continue using the term, to me, merely demonstrates ignorance and is a perfect example of lack of self control and self respect.
