In 1985 National Security staffer Ollie North ordered commercial airliner over Mediteranean to be forced by US fighters to land in Sicily. That had the alleged Achille Lauro highjacker Abul Abbas on board.

I always felt that was a total violation of international law, but North and Reagan (as much as I otherwise respect them) were heralded as gutsy by many. Of course the libs and media hated it then (as I did). But if Bambi did it now, they would love it (and I would still hate it).

Some violations of international law are more equal than others.

But if Bambi did it now, they would love it (and I would still hate it).

Hopefully, it would turn out to be the wrong airplane. Obama would be the optimal loser.
