Guys, I found this interesting as I was reporting on it and reading more on it. Most of the news comes from China Daily, admittedly, but I did more research on this and if you've heard of Washington's desire to "pivot" towards Asia -- as Obama described his Pacific Agenda around five years ago now -- every diplomat involved now saying the military is a key component to this. So libertarians against empire might find this interesting.

While we’re “pivoting” how about, bringing back US industry too?

Huh?

Just a thought. We cannot protect against a country, if we send our industry to the country.

You may recall that a few hours before Obama’s last state of the union address the Russians expressed their opinion of the Asia pivot by flying a couple long range bombers, capable of firing nuclear missiles, around our bases at Guam. Bill Gertz reported that they were, in fact, nuclear armed at the time.

Of course, a couple months later our military responded with a little one-upmanship in the form of six Los Angeles class fast attack submarines and one Ohio class ballistic missile sub spending a little time together at Apra Harbor on Guam. Who knows what was deployed at Anderson Air Force base at the time. They have hosted B-1’s, B-2’s, B-52’s, and F-22’s at various times.
