MURFREESBORO, Tenn. A man has been charged after being shot by a homeowner during an alleged attempted burglary on Thursday morning.
Murfreesboro Police charged 19-year-old Gage W. Dalling with one count of aggravated criminal trespass and two counts of burglary.
The homeowner, Milton Heath, told police he was getting ready for his morning walk around 6:30 a.m. Thursday when he spotted a man trying to break into his home on W. Clark Boulevard.
Heath grabbed his .22-caliber revolver and confronted the man, later identified as Dalling. Parkerson said Heath told him to keep his hands up, but when the man went for his pocket, Heath shot him.
Dalling, who parked his car in the driveway next door, was rushed to Vanderbilt Univeristy Medical Center with minor injuries.
Detectives continue to investigate.
The early bird gets the vermin? --or how to get into Vanderbilt without the SAT?
I recall recently seeing the updated stats ranking the 50 states on their degree of freedom. TN was #1 if I recall correctly.
Suspect is suffering minor injuries because he was shot with a .22 and it wasn’t in the head. The article doesn’t say whether he was hit center mass or not.
.22’s are fun to plink around targeting bowling pins but I know better than to use it to protect my life.

An AR is a .22!
I know whenever I am caught breaking into a house, I check out the caliber of gun the homeowner pulls on me. If it is a 22, I just laugh and continue on with my “business”.
.22’s have probably killed more people than any other handgun round.
