I'm certain that Thomas Walker was not the only slave trader of that era. Let's track down all of them and see how many modern era families are decended from them. I suspect that any family with colonial ancestors could be similar entwined.

Since my ancestors came over from eastern Europe about a hundred years ago, I am certain that none of them were involved.

Of the first seven Presidents, five (Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Jackson) were slaveholders. Ulysses Grant, the general that led to Union to victory, had owned slaves in antebellum Missouri. William Jefferson Clinton's middle name may either honor the third President or the first and only Confederate President. Jefferson was a common first and middle name in the postbellum South, as was Lee.

Humorously, by derivation, you may be on the victim side (by ancestry) of this equation. If they came from one of the 'Slavic' countries, where do you think that name comes from?
