The official count of the crowd by the Germans was 4,500. Perhaps Obummer should have gone to Berlin CT where he might have drawn a crowd of 5,000 Obummernuts.
Al Gore must envy Obama’s timing. While an Al Gore visit usually causes the thermometer to drop precipitously, the temperature today in Berlin was 97, 20+ degrees above normal. Obama must have jumped on Air Force One when he heard it was going to be a scorcher in Deutschland.
This was clearly a way to avoid embarrassment for Bambi. It actually didn’t even look like there were 6000 people there, though. Maybe most of the invites went in the circular file.
Thanks for that. Good to know I remembered correctly.
Is that right? That’s beautiful.
How many were bribed to show up for this non-event?
My understanding is that of the 4,500 there, 2,000 were U.S. security, 1,000 German security/police and 1,000 in Obama’s entourage including foreign guests and German politicians.
500 people at the gate area is normal even without a special event. It’s likely that those 500 were not necessarily there to see Obama. I think the press were part of the 500.
I watched for about 5 minutes at the most, then I changed the channel
Yeah, I remember reading about it, but nothing shows up in search. I am going to check the German Tabloid Bild, to see if they have something about it
I guess Obama didn’t offer a big enough bribe to get the Germans to go out and listen to his communist crap. The German know all about communism as they lived right next door to it for over sixty years.
Obama is probably in Berlin solely to get tips from ex-Stasi agents.
“How many were bribed to show up for this non-event?”
They were bribed with Jelly donuts and pfannkuchens.
How exciting can it bee to watch Mr. TOTUS Reader read from TOTUS when we’ve all seen the act day after day for the last ~4.5 years?
You mean movie theaters, don’t you. Germany didn’t get any television until the 50s or something around that time and that was the Bundesrepublic of West Germany
t
No it wasn’t. He was to slow to take his hand down and the photographer to quick to shoot the pic
The Berliners went probably swimming in the Wannsee
Actually the Nazis had television

Germany had television in the 1930s. It was used primarily by the Nazis as the war went on (including programming for injured German soldiers recuperating at the hospital).

The way their television programming was transmitted, the event was recorded to film, processed in camera, and transmitted almost in real time. The films remain as a permanent recording.
Good enough for me. :^)
