Heather has an 18-month-old child with Aaron. She's pregnant again, either with his child or someone else's. Then there's her stepbrother, Michael, and her mother, Debbie, and a 6-year-old who is either Debbie's daughter, thus Heather's half-sister, or Michael's daughter, no relation to Heather or Debbie, "from a previous relationship." (That's a term-of-art without which no journalism could proceed these days.)
Sounds a bit like the people across the street from me!
Men tend to go a bit crazy when it comes to intimate relationships with women, and women know how to pull their strings.
I cannot but wonder if this case is an indirect result of the insane Lautenberg amendment. The former boyfriend who was shot had just “resigned” from his career as a corrections officer in New York. Could it be that he lost his job because he could no longer have a gun or ammunition due to the restraining order? It is very likely that once he lost his job, he was still expected to pay child support.
As I said, men are quite vulnerable to going crazy in these circumstances. The restraining order was for “unlawful restraint” which could be as little as holding on to her to keep her from doing something stupid. Maybe he took her car keys when she said she was going to her new boyfriends place.
I am not excusing his actions. But I can see the unintended consequences when we degrade and attack institutions that have stood the tests of thousands of years in the belief that we can shape human nature into anything we want.
