Rohrabacher: Boehner 'should be removed as Speaker' if he moves Senate immigration bill
The Hill ^ | 18 June 2013 | Jonathan Easley

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) warned Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would face a conference revolt that could threaten his Speakership if he allows a House vote on the immigration bill presently being debated in the Senate.

Conservatives have been pressuring Boehner to adhere to the unwritten “Hastert Rule” — named after former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) — that says no bill should come to the House floor unless it has the backing of a majority of a chamber's majority party.

Rohrabacher said if Boehner moves forward with a vote on immigration reform without a Republican majority, it would be a “betrayal” of his party.

Boehner could have been removed as Speaker in January but you voted for him, Dana.

If he moves the "Senate bill?"

That's not the issue. The issue is whether the House (after voting down the Senate bill, should it pass that august Body) approves any so-called "immigration reform" bill. A House bill, ruled into an appointed joint conference committee comes under consideration with a kind of unicameral legislature.

The product of that joint committee then returns to both the Senate and the House a monster, designed by committee.

No compromise over National Security!

“Was his the deciding vote?”

Not that I remember. Bachmann was one of the ones close to the end.

But in any case, don’t tell me that he couldn’t see the weakness in Boehner then. For two years, Boehner went along with Obama and Reid at every turn, and he still voted for him. So I don’t take his complaints now seriously. When it counted, he too folded.

Don't wait for the Senate's immigration bill, replace Speaker Boehner now. The man is weak and fights the wrong people (conservative Republicans). While at it, replace majority leader Cantor and majority whip McCarthy also. But, the most important thing is to dump Boehner and replace him with someone that has a spine and gonads. Replace him with a fighting leader.

It is better to have a lion at an army of sheep than to have a sheep at an army of lions. Boehner is the sheep in this case. I wonder what those NSA eavesdropping files have on him (and Justice Roberts)?

That was then. This is now.

I'm calling my R Congressman to see if he's on board with this.

You are absolutely correct. This could be another of those bait and switch deals cooked up by those gutless libs who hide in conservative clothing. On the one hand he does not bring the senate bill up and everyone goes oou ah, we won. They he brings up another immigration bill in the house, gets it passed and it goes to conference, modified, and then back to each for passage...and then whammo, we have the Obamacare bill this time for immigration.

I am not being bombastic when I say that entire place needs be vaporized and we start over. Too much Potomac Two Step for what should be a simple task like simply passing a law or better still, deciding we have enough laws and just go on recess.

That these people are not looking to reps and senators from border states for counsel and advice is so obnoxious that they make mooch’s $5,000,000 Ireland trip look like a mere temper tantrum

1.The entire Republican and Democrat Party should never be allowed to participate in politics again. I mean any person now or in the past who was in office as a Republican or Democrat or worked for those organizations should be banned for the rest of their lives from not just elected office but in any organized political activity. This is similar to what happened to Confederate political parties after the Civil War.

2.Lobbyists and Corporate Officers should lose their citizenship if they attempt to give any money, gifts, contribution, or emoluments to elected government officials. The government official should lose their citizenship if they accept.

3.Enforce the original 13th Amendment that bans members of the Bar from holding office.

4.Anyone that receives a check from the government for anything other than services rendered should not be allowed to vote.
