Or run a conservative and lose worse but move the party to the right.....?

It’s libertarian mentality. They think pro life and traditional marriage conservatives are statists.

Santorum would not have moved the party to the right. If anything, he would have pushed the libertarian leaning folks like me even further away. Had Santorum won, then been obliterated in the general election, chances are very good that there would be no Rand Paul or Ted Cruz.
