Rep Steve Stockman (R-TX) requests subpoena of NSA's White House, IRS phone logs
Breitbart ^ | 06/13/2013 | Debra Heine

Posted on 06/13/2013 2:37:07 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Until now, I thought Democrats were being overly defensive as they circled the wagons around the White House, assuring everyone who would listen that the president obviously wasn't involved. Who in Congress had overtly pointed the finger at the president?

Enter Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) who figured out away to insinuate White House involvement in the IRS targeting scandal and needle the president about the NSA spy scandal at the same time. Stockman sent a letter to Chairman Darrell Issa of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee on Tuesday, asking him to subpoena all NSA records of phone calls between employees of the White House and the IRS. “Obama assures the public he only collected this information to uncover wrongdoing and protect civil liberties. Clearly he would want us to use it to investigate this case, because otherwise he’d be lying,” said Stockman.

“If Obama has nothing to hide he has nothing to fear,” said Stockman.

“This case must be investigated fully, given admitted wrongdoing by the IRS, its potentially criminal implications and revelations the White House has been less than honest about what they knew and when,” said Stockman. “Obama says the PRISM program is perfectly legal, so there should be no problem whatsoever in providing the information on White House and IRS phone calls.”

“The only possible scenario in which the administration refuses to comply would be if it would reveal unconstitutional or illegal behavior,” said Stockman.

Obama ordered his IRS to rig the election of 2012 for Obama and democrats/socialists in the Senate. Obama also used other gov agencies to rig the election. Why isn’t anyone shouting this form the rooftops? Come on Levin, coulter , Sarah Palin, Rush, DRudge etc. call Obama out on this and call for Obama’s resignation.

Obama’s IRS prevented many tea party groups from getting started The IRS stole the election. We no longer live in a free country

Executive Privilege. It will never happen. Obama will not allow it. It should happen. It will not.

RE: Executive Privilege. It will never happen.

I’ve asked this before... how does a cabinet member who has been held in contempt of congress get punished if the president protects him/her?

Breitbart has an interesting article about a charged Brinks armored truck requesting NSA Prism documents to exhonerate his whereabouts on the day in question. The judge is allowing this to go forth.

As to your question....I think you know the answer......this administration is an ORGANIZED CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE. They are a law unto themselves. Much of their stately is to run a 3 year clock out.

You almost sound as if you believe Congress has some Power separate but equal to the other 2 branches of government. Have you been reading the Constitution?? if so could you send a copy of the relevant portions to your congressman?? That book has been banned on Government Property.

The answer is simple, hold the hearing, every last person that refuses in any way to tell the truth or provide evidence asked for should be immediately arrested and held in Contempt of Congress, no visitors, no lawyers, Solitary Confinement in the Congressional jail. after 30 days bring them back in , if they refuse to testify again lock them back up. repeat til the end of time.

Poorly worded by none other then SCOTUS, Wikipedia (for what it's worth) says:

The Supreme Court stated: "To read the Article II powers of the President as providing an absolute privilege as against a subpoena essential to enforcement of criminal statutes on no more than a generalized claim of the public interest in confidentiality of nonmilitary and nondiplomatic discussions would upset the constitutional balance of 'a workable government' and gravely impair the role of the courts under Article III." Because Nixon had asserted only a generalized need for confidentiality, the Court held that the larger public interest in obtaining the truth in the context of a criminal prosecution took precedence.

I'm sure the IRS incident would not fall under military or diplomatic. The NSA BS probably would.

Can the WH doctor the logs or make the incriminating ones disappear?

Yes, especially if he sends the logs in a PDF file.

Hasn’t Congress realized yet that 0bama has rendered them irrelevant?

The GOP in Congress have made themselves irrelevant. They simplhy have no desire to be an engaged opposition party. Too much work I guess.
