I think he married her because he fell in lust. His China ventures were just a way to give the missus something to do. He gave her myspace.com to run. She dropped the ball and turned gold into dross. If you want to marry someone to curry favor, you marry an aristocrat. She's easy on the eyes, but she's no aristocrat.

I don't think ideology has anything to do with it. Myspace was king of the hill in social media before Facebook. Then Murdoch handed the reins to Deng. She dropped the ball and drove myspace into the ground.
