Any legislation that allows the lawbreakers to stay and work here, the object of their crime, is amnesty. A path to citizenship is a bonus. Giving them green cards entitles them to all the benefits of citizenship except voting. They can receive welfare and entitlement benefits, SSNs, driver’s licenses, work permits etc.

Illegal immigration is not as much an issue in Wisconsin as it is in the coastal states and the Southwest. This bill will translate to more Democrat voters, maybe not in Wisconsin so much, but decidedly so in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. The net effect of the 1986 immigration bill was a major factor in tipping California, once a bellwether state, into a Democrat lock. The net effect of this new bill will be the same, and you can count on Florida and maybe Arizona being permanent losses to the GOP and Texas moving into "purple" status.

Ryan couldn't even carry his home state last year. He is no one conservatives should look up to. Neither is Rand Paul, whose state is not much affected by illegal immigration. As for Marco Rubio, he is undercutting his own base in Florida.

“Giving them green cards entitles them to all the benefits of citizenship except voting.”

Heard that during jury selection this week for the Whitey Bulger trial, it was discovered that an illegal was in the pool of prospects (derived from the voter lists). Gotta wonder how many illegals are not only illegally voting but also illegally serving on juries.

They have been getting welfare and anything else they want for years. Amnesty defenders would get on tv and say with straight faces that of course not illegals couldn’t get welfare—that would be against the law.
