Google details how it hands over data to federal officials

Google on Wednesday pushed harder to downplay its role in a secret national surveillance program, detailing for the first time how it typically hands over data to federal officials.

Surprisingly, the global innovator uses decidedly simple and low-tech methods, including the delivery of information by hand or by transferring files from one computer to another.

These tech firms have that in common. That and they love social engineering and nudging. They manipulate, so it isn’t a surprise that a government that manipulates is their bud.

A search firm that kept data private or destroyed search histories instantly would do well in this environment. It might be the next Google.

There are many on the ‘right’ like McCarthy’s recent article, who are defending this policy as innocuous and ‘for our benefit’. I suspect you’re analysis is spot on and agree.

If our records are public, why not governments? I mean let’s get it all out there. Let’s see Obama’s records and the Clinton’s, too. I mean it’s all ‘nonprivate’, correct?
