For First Time in 8 Years, US Likes George W. Bush
Newser ^ | 6/12/13

It's a milestone any former president would love: For the first time since 2005, more Americans approve of George W. Bush than disapprove, reports Gallup. He now stands at 49-46—up 9 in the "view favorably" category and down 13 in "view unfavorably" since he left office in 2009. (He still registers only a 24% favorable rating among Democrats, 60 points below his score among Republicans.)

All the recent former presidents are at 60% favorable or above, including Bush senior at 62%. He turns 89 tomorrow, incidentally, and his foundation wants everyone to wear brights socks (and photograph them) to mark the occasion, notes the Dallas Morning News.

Nixon's favorability got a boost in the middle of Carter's presidency.

The truly great thing about Obama?

He makes everyone else look better!

It’s what happens when you’re no longer around to do any further damage.

Without the Hollywood Reds trashing Bush’s name on television every day (with talkshow sh!tchat, programs like “That’s my Boosh”, and major motion pictures every week) and other presstitution going on, the public has little reason to despise the man who isn’t doing them any personal harm today.

Gin up the negatives and the numbers would be different.

Truth will out.

Even Al Franken NOW supports Bush’s “then unconstitutional” NSA wiretaps, and he even supports the EXPANSION to every American, not just those who are communicating abroad with known members of Al Qaeda.

not here...this family has always supported GWB, and we still do...his class, character, respect for the office, and dignity, and honor are still good characteristics...which Husein sadly doesn't have...

Same here. I always appreciated his maturity and dignity. He had to deal with a liberal Senate and House which forced him to compromise more than anyone would want.

He was not a Reagan, but who is?

Pray for America to Wake Up

That just tells me that Americans that answer presidential approval polls are mostly idiots.

I’m sure Jeb is smiling. Three more years of ObaMao and another Bush is going to look awfully good.

Or that they feel there's no point in slamming a POTUS who has left office and is enjoying retirement.

A partial list of George's Bush's great accomplishments:

A legacy which secured the election of a successor in his own party

A western style democracy in Iraq.

A western style democracy in Afghanistan.

A homeland security department which respects our constitutional rights

His “Islam is a peaceful religion” speech.

Stopping a massive invasion of illegals across our southern border.

A stable economy

Bailing out the banks.

Spending millions to fight aids in Africa

Stopping the military from taking Fallujah apart after Fallujans murdered two American contractors and hung their corpses up for ridicule.

Allowing a Sharia based government to succeed Saddam in Iraq

Securing Red Chinese access to Iraqi oil paid for with American blood and money.

Promising to veto an English as an official language bill.

Promising to sign an assault rifle ban.

The Patriot Bill.

Miss him yet or should I post more?

Ditto here. The msm succeeded in getting both right and left to hate bush...such an obvious goal for a commie press.

We’ve always seen thru the tactic and continued our high opinion of George e.g... a good man and a great pres.

you know, you have a great point. All this bickering about civil liberties that progressive democrats put up during Bush’s presidency is now what they are defending with the Obama admin. the only difference was the Bush used these legislative weapons to defend America from her enemies, while Obama is using them to silence his political opponents, or at least keep track of what they’re saying. I supported the Patriot Act, and other legislation that put greater power in the hands of the intel community to fight terrorists, but Obama’s wild misuse of such tactics, as well as his inability, or his unwillingness, to curb treasonous leaks is causing me to rethink my support of these laws.

I still have not seen proof that what is being gathered today is no more information than was being gathered while Bush was president.

I also know that as First Lady, Mrs. Clinton possessed 900 FBI files illegally and was not prosecuted.

She was later approved as Sec. of State.

The existence of laws does not prevent abuse of power just as the legalization of information gathering does not guarantee its abuse.

On THEIR dollar when he ALREADY is a millionaire.

We haven’t had a log cabin president in a long time and I don’t think ANY of them deserve our tax money anymore in a pension.
