With the vast history of arab/muslims enslaving blacks, even now, it is very puzzling the kinship that seems to exist, at almost every level, between those cultures.

American blacks wound up with a bridge to Islam through Elijah Muhammad's crackpot American cult in the sixties. The NOI never managed to convert more than a small percentage of blacks, but they have left their mark on that sub-culture, which has tended to heighten awareness of Islam.

Although there seems to be an inordinate number of “prison converts to islam”, I was not necessarily speaking in regard to formal conversion, rather overt sympathetic views.
