Obama: No warrantless wiretaps if you elect me (2008)
CNET ^ | 1-08-2008 | Anne Broache

"My job this morning is to be so persuasive...that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack," he told a crowd of about 300 Ivy Leaguers--and, by the looks of it, a handful of locals who managed to gain access to what was supposed to be a students-only event.

For one thing, under an Obama presidency, Americans will be able to leave behind the era of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and "wiretaps without warrants," he said. (He was referring to the lingering legal fallout over reports that the National Security Agency scooped up Americans' phone and Internet activities without court orders, ostensibly to monitor terrorist plots, in the years after the September 11 attacks.)

It's hardly a new stance for Obama, who has made similar statements in previous campaign speeches, but mention of the issue in a stump speech, alongside more frequently discussed topics like Iraq and education, may give some clue to his priorities.

I’d like to know what probable cause the gubbamint has on me that they could issue such a blanket warrant for my personal info.

My constitutional rights have been violated.

The Most Transparent Administration In Human History Sure Likes To Plead the Fifth

“The way to make government responsible is to hold it accountable. The way to make government accountable is to make it transparent, so the American people can know exactly what decisions are being made, how they’re being well made, and whether their interests are being well served...For a long time now, there’s been too much secrecy in this city. The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That era is now over, starting today.”

Back in those early, heady days, Obama pledged that transparency would be a “touchstone” of his administration. Touchstone - noun - “a standard or criterion by which something is judged or recognized.” Three-and-a-half years later, it’s ignore, deny, scoff, then plead the fifth. Now if only we could get the Vice President to avail himself of his sacred right to remain silent... I’ll leave you with this juicy Politico quote on Obama’s track record on FOIA requests:

“Obama is the sixth administration that’s been in office since I’ve been doing Freedom of Information Act work. … It’s kind of shocking to me to say this, but of the six, this administration is the worst on FOIA issues. The worst. There’s just no question about it,” said Katherine Meyer, a Washington lawyer who’s been filing FOIA cases since 1978. “This administration is raising one barrier after another. … It’s gotten to the point where I’m stunned — I’m really stunned.”

I’m lucky to have a good state rep who is trying to make FOIA requests easier including limiting the cost to no more than 10 cents per page. (Obviously for state and local documents)

This is why we need regular, full presidential press conferences where reporters actually ask relevant questions.

Enemy of the State (1998)

132 min - Action | Drama | Thriller - 20 November 1998 (USA)

A lawyer becomes a target by a corrupt politician and his NSA goons when he accidentally receives key evidence to a serious politically motivated crime.

Plot

As the U.S. Congress moves to pass new legislation that dramatically expands the surveillance powers of intelligence agencies, Congressman Phil Hammersley (Robards) remains firmly opposed to its passage. To ensure the bill’s passage, National Security Agency official Thomas Reynolds (Voight) kills Hammersley, but he is unaware of a video camera set up by wildlife researcher Daniel Zavitz (Lee) that has captured the entire incident.

Storyline

Robert dean is a mild-mannered lawyer who works in Washington D.C. He is on the trail of a kingpin named Pintero. Meanwhile, a politician named Thomas Reynolds is negotiating with Congressman Phillip Hammersley about a new surveillance system with satellites. But, Hammersley declines, that is when Reynolds had Hammersley killed, but this murder was caught on tape, and this person was being chased by Reynolds’ team of NSA agents, the guy must ditch the tape, so he plants it on Dean (unbeknownst to Dean). Then, the NSA decides to get into Dean’s life. That is when Dean’s life began to fall apart all around him, with his wife and job both gone. Dean wants to find out what is going on. Then, he meets a man named “Brill” who tells him that Dean has something that the government wants. That is when Dean and Brill formulate a plan to get Dean’s life back and turn the Tables on Reynolds. Written by John Wiggins

Obama lied about wiretaps. Obama lied about Obamacare. Obama lied about Benghazi. Obama lied about Romney. Obama lied about Fast and Furious. Obama lied about cutting the deficit. etc. etc. etc. etc. ....... Obama lies about EVERYTHING!!!! Virtually NOTHING can be believed that spews from that lying, corrupt, anti-American thug.

But when the so called “Birthers” question the authenticity of information and support documentation on his resume’ they are impugned.

Or better yet, something akin to Question Time in the UK Parliament.

For some reason I get picked for the “random” search about 50% of the time. I feel like a Tea Party Group being audited. I have curtailed flying because of it.

It was the above sentence that convinced me, more than anything, that Bozo was as crazy as a sh** house mouse. I mean read it, he is saying in effect that a light would come down from God and make you want to vote for him. How could anyone hear this and not know he is insane.

Only crickets when Hussein said he and his administration are idiots rather than conspirators, so pretty soon, the left’s god will start joking about his own lies and get away with it.
