Edward Snowden was interviewed over several days in Hong Kong by Glenn Greenwald and Ewen MacAskill.
Q: Why did you decide to become a whistleblower?
A: "The NSA has built an infrastructure that allows it to intercept almost everything. With this capability, the vast majority of human communications are automatically ingested without targeting. If I wanted to see your emails or your wife's phone, all I have to do is use intercepts. I can get your emails, passwords, phone records, credit cards.
"I don't want to live in a society that does these sort of things I do not want to live in a world where everything I do and say is recorded. That is not something I am willing to support or live under."
Q: But isn't there a need for surveillance to try to reduce the chances of terrorist attacks such as Boston?
A: "We have to decide why terrorism is a new threat. There has always been terrorism. Boston was a criminal act. It was not about surveillance but good, old-fashioned police work. The police are very good at what they do."
Q: Do you see yourself as another Bradley Manning?
A: "Manning was a classic whistleblower. He was inspired by the public good."
Q: Do you think what you have done is a crime?
A: "We have seen enough criminality on the part of government. It is hypocritical to make this allegation against me. They have narrowed the public sphere of influence."

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
With his computer skills and knowledge of NSA secrets, I also don’t think he’ll ever see home again. He will be abducted by the Chinese and live out his life as a “worker.”
Why doesn’t he just announce that he is a terrorist and have 2 countries to vouch for that? Not only will he be completely ignored by the US government, but he’ll also get $100k in welfare to boot.

Uhhm...no.
God help us all....
Ouch.
Just ouch.
A: "I think the sense of outrage that has been expressed is justified. It has given me hope that, no matter what happens to me, the outcome will be positive for America. I do not expect to see home again, though that is what I want."
Could this be a Messiah complex or is he for real? I have no idea.
It needed to come out, but how much does CHINA have to do with this?
Consider the timing of the revelations:
1. Right before the Obama/China tete-a-tete regarding (mostly) hacking
2. Right before revelations that Obama ordered prep for US hacking attacks
His girlfriend —was she part of a Chinese honey-pot operation...?
Maybe he also does not yet know..?
Sometimes it’s very subtle.
Not see home?
He’s going to be lucky to see Wednesday.
I'm with the lad on this. Unfortunately, I believe we're in the minority. Just look at Facebook.
Extra points if he says he is a Muslim.
either way the secret is out.
obama will find him if he wants to.
True, but he becomes harder to "disappear" now that he has gone public.
This kind of spying on us is perfectly alright with the Barack Obama’s of the world, the Diane Feinstein’s, the John McCain’s, the Lindsey Graham’s, the Peter King’s.
The totalitarian policy is a bipartisan one.
We can’t single out certain groups of people for extra attention, surveillance etc. etc. so we must spy on everyone.
This is like the liberals zero tolerance policies for the little kids who draw guns in schools.
They see that as a way to deal with insane people from outside who want to mass murder children in schools.
If both major parties keep defending this indefensible policy on spying they are making a great case for a third party.
He has a better chance of staying alive this way.
Had he said nothing at all, he would have eventually been found and "disappeared" into the night without a further word being said by ANYONE.
By speaking up, he has a chance of avoiding being murdered by democrats and their lackeys.
I think, like Manning, he is a homosexual. Something about the tenor of his voice. For decades such people were considered security risks. Hmm......
“Hes going to be lucky to see Wednesday.”
Think our government would murder him without any judicial process? Interesting, and disgusting if true.
