Another RINO goes off the rails supporting the rights of AlQaida to be free from surveillance (/s) Seriously, come up with something better. This is not the hill to die on.

El wrongo. And usually you are a little better able to argue a point without name calling. This leads me to think you have no serious argument beyond the emotional here.

Sorry Colonel Flagg, the days of simply trusting the US intelligence community are over. It is no longer apparent that they are working to protect us. They are morphing into an American Stasi right in front of us.

Surveil Al Qeida all you want. Nobody has the slightest issue with that. But if that truly was the goal here with the inwardly aimed NSA, then why was nothing done when Hassan was known to be a Jihadi? They HAD one right in their hands and let him go. (or more correctly promoted him, and let him counsel men fresh out of combat)

In WWII, mail to and from the war zone was opened and censored. And if an American was in contact somehow with someone in Germany, they had no doubts at all it was looked at. That’s normal. But the FBI did not claim an unlimited right to secretly open every letter in America.

We are talking about every single electronic message and call in America being captured and stored. There is not the slightest requirement that any suspicion be there for them to do it. It is the hallmark of the totalitarian state.
The Stasi never dreamed about possessing the amount of information collected by the US government. That’s just a simple fact. They were limited by the limits of human work product.

This is indeed a hill to die on. And the final proof is that astoundingly obvious muslim jihadis such as Hassan and the Tsarnaevs operate brazenly on the internet and cell network, yet, are left alone. If the effort is not after them, then why even bother?

But for Gods sake, don’t attend a TEA party breakfast.
