Our new tax code: Pick one!
Canada Free Press ^ | June 9, 2013 | Herman Cain

It is way past time to stop talking about replacing the tax code, and to start talking about what to replace it with.

The good news is that there are three great options for replacing our complex, unfair and outdated century-old tax code.

Only a fool or a power hungry bureaucrat would want to keep the complex, unfair 74,000-page tax code we have today.

Here is a brief description of each great plan: The Fair Tax, the Flat Tax, and the 9-9-9 Plan.

Fair Tax

The FairTax is a revenue-neutral, single-rate, federal retail sales tax collected only once, at the final point of purchase of new goods and services for personal consumption. Used items are not taxed. It includes:

•A 23 percent (of the tax-inclusive sales price) sales tax imposed on all retail sales for personal consumption of new goods and services.

New Flat Tax

The Heritage Foundation’s New Flat Tax (NFT), part of Saving the American Dream, replaces today’s complex tax system with one that is simple and fair. The New Flat Tax is simple, revenue-neutral, and will allow America to achieve its full economic potential. Among the details: •Currently, in addition to the income tax, the federal government imposes a payroll tax, death tax, and a slew of excises. The New Flat Tax replaces them all for individuals, families, and businesses with one tax system with one tax rate of roughly 28 percent.

9-9-9

The revenue neutral 9-9-9 plan would replace all current taxes, including the payroll tax, capital gains tax, and the estate tax and taxes on repatriated profits. The plan would establish the following:

•A 9% corporate flat tax.

•A 9% personal flat tax.

•A 9% national sales tax.

The political class has divided and abused us for decades with the current tax system. United, we can take our government back.

Don't believe any of the above options would work, since the Fedgov would find ways around them. They want our dollars for their special projects to get themselves re-elected, not mention the socialists just plain want stuff from others.

However, a flat tax or sales tax would be better than the BS progressive tax we now have. It is unbelievably unfair to the producers of this country.

Fair Tax.... only plan that effectively eliminates the IRS altogether !! No social engineering by congress using the tax codes to play political favors etc. No record keeping for the individual or corporations freeing up capital for spending, expansion, hiring etc. The effect on the economy would be tremendous....
the other options just tweek the current code, keep the need for reporting, tax law compliance (that no one can understand anyway!) and continue to allow congress to use tax codes for political favors !!!

The Fair tax would still involve a federal bureaucracy.

Here's a better idea:

The FIFTY BILL;

The federal government sends out 50 tax bills to the governors of the fifty states. The size of the bill is determined by the census population of those over the age of 18 at the last census. The states figure out how to pay it.

With 50 states experimenting the most efficient, least costly to collect, least onerous, and MOST COMPASSIONATE measures of collect and paying the federal tax bill will emerge.

>>United, we can take our government back.

Not when great conservatives like Herman Cain drop out of the race at the first sign of Gloria All-Red and a bimbo eruption. Not when conservatives were glad to see him go so that “their” conservative had a better chance of winning (or of even joining the damn race!).

We lost America the day Cain dropped out and left the race open for Obama and the slobbering RINOs and “Nice Guys” who handed him the election.

Hey Herman...remember how the Obama team got you to drop out of the race (after I sent you some dough)? Well, they can do that to everyone who threatens to change the power the IRS has over America.

Obama's got the power.

Heh. That would boil the blood of the state-level leftards who demanded and sued if necessary to get the population of illegal immigrants into the census count.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It doesn't entirely even though it would be MUCH better than what we have now. There would still be armies of snoops poking into the sales and business record of our nation's businesses.

Here's an even better idea: The FIFTY BILLS TAX

The federal government sends out 50 tax bills to the governors of the fifty states. The size of the bill is determined by the census population of those over the age of 18 at the last census. The states figure out how to pay it.
With 50 states experimenting the most efficient, least costly to collect, least onerous, least economically damaging, and MOST COMPASSIONATE measures of collect and paying the federal tax bill will emerge.

But knowing Demorat Marxists they would send out 57 bills.

Yes, it would.

And....It would be great motivation to the Marxist States of America to get their illegal immigration under control.

“Henry George (September 2, 1839 – October 29, 1897) was an American writer, politician and political economist, who was the most influential proponent of the land value tax, also known as the “single tax” on land. He inspired the economic philosophy known as Georgism, whose main tenet is that people should own what they create, but that everything found in nature, most importantly the value of land, belongs equally to all humanity. His most famous work, Progress and Poverty (1879), is a treatise on inequality, the cyclic nature of industrialized economies, and the use of the land value tax as a remedy.”

I think he has a point worth considering as a single tax.

28th Amendment

- Establish a Flat Tax of 15% for All Federal Spending. Defense to NASA to National Parks, everything spent by the Federal Government is collected through a 15% Flat Tax.

- All tax collecting authority for the Federal Government is removed from the Federal Government, the IRS is abolished and dismantled, and all Federal Taxes are collected by the State Governments and sent to the Federal Government.

- Social Security is put on a 30 year expiration plan. Every wage earner will be required to save 15% of their gross income and that money used as investment money for government/municipal borrowing. 5% guaranteed returned and initial investment guaranteed by borrowing government entity.

I’m in favor of the None-None-None plan. But since we have to fund national defense, let’s say One-One-One. Leave the rest to the states.

There is a better fourth option:

NO direct federal taxation. Let the federal government collect from the States, as a percentage of whatever each state collects. The CATO Institute calls this Reverse Revenue Sharing.

This would get the federal government out of personal taxation and would instead allow for "50 different experiments in optimal taxation across the different states."

This would come closer to our founding principle of taxation only with representation.
