If you’re that desparate, just go to a junk yard. If nothing else, you can always get four of the “doughnut” spare tires and drive around on those until you can save up the money for Wal-mart tires.

In my twenties, the junk yard was the tire store. I never saw the inside of an actual store with waiting rooms and lifts until I was 33 and married with my first kid.

Junkyard or an individually owned garage or tire shop. I just got 2 decent 195 / 60 R 15s for $30 mounted and balanced.

I have gone to junkyards for rims for cars.....still find ones in good condition for 15 bucks. And...may have to do so again with my latest car as I got another dinged by a chuckhole

Back in the early 1960s when I was in college and working part-time, I had to have my car to get to my employment. So, when I had a tire problem I did indeed go to the junkyard. Tires there were $5.00 and were jocularly known as the "Maypop" brand.
